My mom always said…

5-31 -18--mom-wisdom.jpg

We are still in the month of May so we are honoring the wisdom of mothers and grandmothers.  In June, we will honor the dads. For Thursday’s show, please share with us what words of wisdom or advice your mother or grandmother imparted to you.  Maybe you didn’t realize how profound their statements were until you lived long enough to experience it for yourself.  That is what happened with Debbie and her mom’s advice.  Debbie had to live it and then she realized where she first heard it, from dear ole mom. Our mothers and grandmothers have lived long lives with all the ups and downs this world had to offer.  It surely would be to our advantage if we tap into their wisdom and honor them for taking the time to care about us.  Call in early to the show to be sure to get on the air.  1-833-288-3986.

Whom Are You Missing?

In life, a lot of things change. Relationships evolve or dissolve, people move, family and friends are deployed in the military, some pass away. There are all sorts of circumstances that take our loved ones away from us. The very fact that we love them almost always means there is going to be a longing in our hearts to be with them, and, perhaps, a bit of sadness caused by their absence. Is there someone who has been an important part of your life whom you’re missing dearly right now? Share it on Wednesday with Jerry and Debbie. Talking about it could help you see what a great blessing he or she has been – and, hopefully, continues to be in your life.

Confessional Surprises

A listener named Ron e-mailed suggesting we do a show on the various, different and creative penances given by some priests and received by our listeners. We’re all pretty well acquainted with the penances that involve saying a few prayers or performing a work of mercy. But every now and then, a priest will catch us off guard with a penance that may be unlike one we’ve ever received before. Obviously, we don’t want to get into the details of anyone’s confessions. But please do call on Tuesday if you’ve had this happen to you.

Up In Smoke

On Thursday, Jerry and Debbie will welcome Jesse Romero to the program for a long-anticipated discussion of the booming sale and use of marijuana. As we know, it is being legalized in states all across the country. Which, in the eyes of many people, makes it morally acceptable. But is it? What does the Church say about this? The lightning-fast spread of “pot shops” everywhere marijuana has been made legal is creating all sorts of problems, in spite of what the defenders of the industry say. What is your take on the “legal” use of marijuana? Do you or someone you love smoke pot? Share your take on this vital issue that is not going away anytime soon.

Stuffed Emotions

5-21-18 - emotions (1).jpg

Many times in relationships, we stuff our emotions for fear of being rejected or causing a problem.  This can occur in our homes, at work, at church, in our schools and in our communities.  This is a real problem because folks are not being honest with themselves and others.  We are called to speak the truth with clarity and charity.  Plus, there can be serious physical consequences with stuffing emotions.  It has been stated that stuffed emotions can manifest in disease.  Let’s talk about how we can process through our emotions without suppressing them.  Share your experience with us by calling, 1-833-288-3986.
