I want to belong!

5-16-18 belonging.jpg

Human beings have a want and a need to belong, to be accepted and loved.  In this day and age, with the misuse of social media, it is very easy to alienate others, reject them and even annihilate them using the internet.  Very sad state of affairs we are in, because people can feel isolated and that is the last thing people need in their lives.  We know by the increasing rate of teen suicides that this problem is real and it is growing.  Help us to learn on this show by calling in and sharing your experience of this basic human need to be accepted. 1-833-288-3986.

How Do You Greet Others?

We know there are different ways that we greet the people we know. When you encounter your mother or father, you likely give them a big hug and a kiss. Same with siblings, and, perhaps, close friends. What about plain old friends? Fellow parishioners? Neighbors? Some people are huggers and kissers. Others are more reserved when it comes to showing affection. Where are you on this spectrum? Are you more or less demonstrative when you greet or say goodbye to those you encounter? Let’s talk about this on Tuesday.

I am the REAL deal!

5-14-18 Authentic.jpg

We are called to be true to ourselves and to others.  Being authentic in today’s world can be challenging but it is necessary if we are going to change the culture from godlessness to godliness…Many times we try to fit in and we don’t want to ruffle feathers, so being several versions of ourselves tends to be quite easy.  Being Christian is not always easy, in fact, it can be rather hard at times.  Working towards authenticity is key for our spiritual development.  Let’s talk about getting real in life. My Guardian Angel Is Right Beside Me

Psalm 91 clearly describes how God gave each and every one of us a guardian angel to protect, guard and guide us. Scripture does not lie. God gave us this great gift of the angels, and our role is to acknowledge that gift and develop a relationship with our guardian angel. Let’s talk about what angels are and what they are not, and share your devotion and trust in your guardian angel on Friday.

It’s All About Grace

The Catechism of the Catholic Church describes all the different forms of grace. It is fascinating to know the power of grace in our spiritual lives. But do we really understand the concept of grace? Is it just a word that we toss around lightly, or do we rely on grace to deepen our faith lives. Is grace something we can “feel?” How do we know when grace is at work in our lives? It’s an interesting topic that we’ll delve into with your help on Thursday.

Parenting With Purpose

Parenting is a process. The first moment you hold your newborn child, you might think that you will have to coddle them and provide for them forever. A few years later, they are starting to flex their independent muscles. But you still have to keep a close eye on them, and make sure they are coloring between the lines. As they become teenagers and young adults, how do you loosen your grip and allow them to be the persons God made them to be, while still providing the guidance they need as they mature? Share your tips on Wednesday’s show.

What’s the Favorite Part of Your Day?

Some of us can’t wait to put our feet on the ground in the morning. Others are more stubborn about getting up and beginning their day. Many of us just love our lunch break or whatever our midday routine is. Of course, a lot of us cherish that moment when we arrive at home at the end of a busy day. And, not to be left out, that instant when we hit the pillow is what many of us look forward to. For you, what is the favorite part of your day? When you have a little quiet time to yourself? When your spouse, kids or puppy welcome you home with great enthusiasm? Perhaps it’s the middle of the night when you can spend the time falling back to sleep in silent prayer. Call and share your take on Tuesday.

Let’s Do This!

It’s common to all of us. We use phrases like, “One of these days…”, “Hey, I really have to…”, “Let’s be sure we do (fill in the blank) again soon.” Life sweeps us away. Between our jobs, family obligations and all sorts of things that present themselves, those things we truly look forward to doing (or doing again) get pushed back further and further. It’s possible that some of us never get around to doing those things. Thankfully, the light bulb goes off for many of us, and we make that necessary intentional effort to get it done. What is something that you have finally acted on, or are planning to act on, that’s been on your mind and heart for a long time? Share your take on Monday!

What Has Death Taught You?

Death can be very sad. Sometimes tragic. The loss of a loved one can take years, even a lifetime, to overcome. That’s the downside of death. It can also be a glorious reality, especially if the deceased was spiritually prepared to die. And it can be a time of great grace for those who are left behind. We hear often from listeners who experienced the death of someone close to them, and how they were deeply touched and brought closer to God by the way the dying person embraced their fate. Almost everyone has been touched by death in some way. What has it taught you? You’ll inspire everyone with your take on Friday.

Give Me Some Credit!

5-3-18-credit.jpg

In life, it’s virtually impossible to function without using other people’s money. In other words, your bank’s money, your credit card’s money, etc. Almost no one could buy a house without credit. Credit cards are a fixture for most of us. In many ways, this is a very beneficial reality. But it can also lead to a lot of problems. Credit used judiciously can make life much more manageable. But Proverbs 22:7 points out some of the dangers, noting that the rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender. What is your take on credit and living with some amount of debt? Some people get in deep, dig their way out, then have a party when they take the scissors to their credit cards forever. Share your take on this crucial part of our everyday lives. It’s something that potentially carries significant spiritual ramifications.  1-833-288-3986 is the number to be on the show.
