What Advice Would You Hand On?

It’s said that wisdom comes with age. At least, we should hope it would. As we get older, hopefully we are gaining valuable life experiences that can help us in many ways. And that we can also hand on to those younger than us. Is there one thing you could zero in on that you would pass on to the next generation if you had the chance? Well, on Thursday, you will!

Great Books Make Great Minds

Jerry and Debbie will be traveling on Wednesday to Alabama for the first Stand Tall Retreat this weekend. They recently taped a very special conversation with Karl Keating, founder and longtime president of Catholic Answers. We briefly discuss the history of Catholic Answers, and the fact that Jerry was the founding host of Catholic Answers Live, which has aired on EWTN Radio for over twenty years. Then the discussion shifts to some of the books that helped to shape Karl’s own mind and heart, which he delves into in his latest book titled, “Booked For Life: The Bibliographic Memoir Of An Accidental Apologist.” You’ll get some great suggestions for books you may wish to add to your own library!

Have You Dealt With a Cheating Spouse?

While marriage is designed to be lived out by husband and wife in complete fidelity to one another, history is fraught with instances of infidelity. It happens far too often, usually leaving in its wake a trail of heartache and family wreckage. Yet, there are those grace-filled situations where spouses are able to reconcile and forgiveness is given and received. We know this is a very personal and delicate matter, but if you have been on either end of marital infidelity, and you’re comfortable sharing your experience and its outcome, please call and talk with Jerry and Debbie on Tuesday. As always, what you share on the program could have a far-reaching impact on other listeners – especially those who may be now going through what you went through some time ago.

Think Big?

2-5-18_real-or-dream (1).jpg

Which one are you, the dreamer or the realist?  Maybe you are a little bit of both.  Or possibly you are the dreamer and your spouse is the realist.  This can prove to be a great balance and one that really makes dreams come true.  Let’s talk about this and more on Monday’s show. With your participation, this discussion can be beneficial to all who listen to Take 2.  We have a new number to call in, so please write it down and pass it on to your friends as well.  1-833-288-EWTN (1-833-288-3986)

Are These the “Good Old Days” For You?

Life is really amazing. Every one of us goes through periods of great joy and satisfaction. We each also go through difficult stages of life. No matter what age we are, we can look back and scan the duration of our lives and see various times when there was a real contentment, like things were hitting on all cylinders. Can you point to that time in your life? Is it perhaps right now? Would you go back to the “good old days” if you had the chance? How do we make each stage of our lives the “good old days?” Will the “good old days” only be ours when we make it to heaven? This will be a lively discussion – with your participation, as always – on Thursday with Debbie and Jerry.

Who or What Are You Praying For?

We often hear the phrase, “by popular demand.” In the case of our “Who or What Are You Praying For?” broadcasts, it is literally true. Because of your participation each time we air it, and letting us know you’d like to hear it more often, we will be presenting you the opportunity at the beginning of each month to call with your special intentions. It could be the health of a loved one, a job search, for healing of a relationship, family members who have strayed from the Church, you name it. On Wednesday, Jerry and Debbie will again be blessed and honored to have you join them and allow, not only the two of them, but the entire world join you in praying for what’s on your heart. Don’t miss it – and call early!

What’s Your Favorite Motivational Maxim?

They’ve existed seemingly forever. Short, pithy statements often intended to convey some sort of inspirational or motivational message. Things like:

“Life does not have to be perfect to be wonderful.”

“Self-care is not selfish. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.”

“Be loyal to those who are not present. In doing so, you will earn the trust of those who are present.”

“Don’t downgrade your dream just to fit your reality. Upgrade your conviction to match your destiny.”

“If you are not content with what you have, you would not be satisfied if it were doubled.”

These are just five examples from literally thousands (millions?) of maxims that have been put forth over the centuries. Do you have one that has held special meaning for you? Share it with Jerry and Debbie on Wednesday, and let’s explore how our go-to maxims relate to our faith and spiritual lives.

What’s Happened to Common Courtesy?

We live in a world that’s vastly different than it was just a generation or two ago. So many things have changed – some for the better, some for the worse – it’s hard to keep up with it all. One thing that should never go out of style is people treating others with common courtesy. Thanking those who help you. Holding the door for someone. Letting another driver merge into the lane in front of you. The examples and instances are endless. What is your experience of this? Do you think our culture is less courteous than it once was? Perhaps you see common courtesy exhibited all the time. Let’s have a conversation about this on Tuesday, and we’ll all come away a little bit better for it.

It’s Too Heavy

On Monday, Jerry and Debbie invite you to take part in what should be a very impactful discussion. Many people today are burdened simply by life. God wants us to have abundant lives. But sometimes human nature, painful experiences, bad choices and so forth get in the way of that, to the point where we are tempted to think, “How much more can I endure?” Again, while this is not the ideal type of life, it is a fact that a lot of people are facing. Do you ever feel like the burdens or baggage of your life are just too heavy? Maybe talking it through briefly on the air – and securing the prayers of your fellow listeners in the process – will help to make things just a little lighter for you!
