Waking Up With Gratitude

waking_gratitude (1).jpg

Have you ever woken up, stubbed your toe, spilled your coffee, saw on stain on your shirt, and realized this is not going to be a good day?  This happens to many of us and it seems that when we begin our day with a state of gloom, things snowball, and get even worse.  Yet, when we start our morning with a sense of gratitude, life tends to be brighter.  Trivial annoyances can still occur; but when we have an “attitude of gratitude” minor disturbances manage to glide right by almost unnoticed.  Let’s discuss this on Take 2 with Jerry and Debbie.  Share how you incorporate gratitude into your daily life.  Call in at: 1-800-585-9396.

Do Not Be Anxious

With all the insecurity in the world today, there is widespread anxiety. Not just the garden variety type where people fret a little over the future. So many people today are almost paralyzed and unable to function in society due to deeply-rooted anxiety. They’re on medications that can help in some instances. Still, how do those burdened with serious anxiety learn to trust in the Lord, and take Jesus’ words seriously: “Do not be anxious about anything?” Gary Zimak, author and speaker will join us today for the entire show.  Gary will share his experience with anxiety and the steps we can take today to overcome some of the debilitating effects of an anxious life.  Call in and share your take on this very important topic. 1-800-585-9396

Return to Sender?

As we hurtle down the road of instant communication, it becomes easier and more frequent that we will hit the “send” button before giving sufficient reflection on what it is that we’ve written. A big part of the problem is that so much gets lost in electronic communication. Tone, inflection, intention, etc., are not part of the correspondence. We’ve become a society of communicators who use emojis or emoticons to convey these things. Hardly anyone has sent an e-mail, a text, or posted something on social media that they didn’t go back and re-read, and perhaps think that they shouldn’t have sent in the first place. This relates well to the spiritual life, as we are exhorted to be deliberate in our thinking and guard our tongue. Nowadays, the keyboard is our “tongue.”

Waiting on the Lord

prayer-waiting

There are many reasons why we have to sometimes wait – even a very long time – before we sense an answer from God to one of our prayers. In this age of instant gratification, that can be very difficult. It’s often said that God answers every prayer. It’s either, “Yes,” “No,” or “Not now.” As Tom Petty once sang, “The waiting is the hardest part.” How easy is it for you to wait on the Lord? The Bible speaks often of those who wait on the Lord being rewarded.  Share with us your experience by calling 1-800-585-9396.

Is Chivalry Gone Forever?

Chivalry-t2.jpg

In my (Jerry’s) experience, there is a growing number of women who don’t want the door held for them, men who won’t hold the door for anyone, etc. With the increase in women serving in what were once traditionally men’s roles (military, firefighting, law enforcement, etc), have they brought upon themselves a diminished appreciation for their femininity on the part of men? Have they come to a place where they think it is too “vulnerable” of them to allow someone to treat them like a “lady?” One has to wonder nowadays if a ship were going down, would the men rush the women and children to the lifeboats first?  Interested to know what Debbie’s “take” on this is?  Let’s talk about if chivalry is gone forever.  Call in at 1-800-585-9396.

What Spiritual “Gem” Is Your Area Known For?

Across the United States and around the world there are incredible “faith spots,” if you will. An area may be known for a very special retreat house, or a shrine, or a giant statue on a hill overlooking the freeway. So often, these are very little known outside the local areas. Yet, people could benefit from including visits to these places during their work trips or vacations. For those who can’t make a pilgrimage to Lourdes, or Fatima, or Rome, there are a lot of places in our own backyards where the presence of God is very profound. Share your take on this on Friday with Jerry and Debbie at Noon ET!

Moving Past Abortion

One of the greatest tragedies in human history is abortion. What often gets lost is the damage it does to the mother of the child, as well as any others (the father, the doctor, etc.) who play a role in the abortion. It’s an act that many people never find healing for, due in large part to the shame that’s associated with it. On Wednesday, Jerry and Debbie will discuss this huge issue at Noon Eastern Time. There IS hope. There IS healing. There CAN BE a future after abortion. Tune in and learn more!

Whom Are You Fighting For?

u_fighting4.jpg

There are times in life when we are so down, so discouraged, even in a state of despair. It’s during those times that prayer seems impossible. And it’s at those times that we carry one another, much like those who lowered the paralytic down through the roof to be healed by Jesus. When we are engaged in deep prayer for someone who either can’t pray, or doesn’t know that he needs prayer, we are actually “doing battle” on behalf of his soul. Let’s ask our listeners if there’s someone they know (or even don’t know) whom they are “fighting” for in prayer.
Our listeners are you!
So please call in at 1-800-585-9396

One of Jerry’s favorite prayers: “Jesus, I can’t. You can. Please do.” Keep it simple!

Catholics in America

If you think the challenges we face as Catholics in the United States are new, you need to think again. Sure, the heat has been turned up in recent years, and shows no signs of abating. But the first Catholics to come to this country also faced a long uphill battle. Yet, they were undeterred – as we should be – in their efforts to bring the truth of Jesus Christ and His Church to our land. On Independence Day, Jerry and Debbie will visit with Russell Shaw, Church historian and author of more than twenty books, including his latest, “Catholics in America,” which profiles several of the pioneering Catholics who laid the foundation of the Catholic faith in the early years of the United States. Tune in and enjoy!
