Take 2 with Jerry & Debbie

Growing Our Daily Bread

In teaching His disciples to pray, Jesus gave us the Our Father. It includes a request that God faithfully provide us with our “daily bread.” This can have multiple meanings, but taken at face value it’s a petition to our heavenly Father for the food we need to be sustained in life. On Friday, Jerry and Debbie will welcome Dale Artho and Wayne Cleveland to the show. They have long been involved in agriculture, and recognize the intimacy and importance of food in our lives. It’s very connected to our faith, and is a forceful reminder of the heavenly food that sustains our soul in the Eucharist. Tune in and hear these stewards of the land describe their “vocation” to help grow our daily bread.

Trusting in God

We have “In God We Trust” on our dollar bills and on our coins. We have “In God We Trust” license plates. “In God We Trust” has always been woven into our government, civilization and prayers. But how much do we really trust God?  At times is it little more than lip service? We trust so many people and things in our lives, but do we truly honor with our trust the one who brought us into existence and promised to provide for our ever need? Tune in Thursday as we talk about this – with your valuable takes!

The Bible To-Go

On Tuesday, Jerry and Debbie welcome Mike Stark to the program. Together with EWTN’s Raymond Arroyo and their creative team, he helped to develop and launch the Truth and Life Dramatized Audio Bible. It’s grown into an app that features all sorts of helpful faith tools. This is an example of how technology can be put at the service of the gospel. And, thanks to apps like this, we have no more excuses for not “finding time” to do things like study Scripture. Call with your take at Noon ET, with a reply at Midnight ET – 800-585-9396.

Long Lost Friends

While it’s easier than ever today to keep track of high school friends, former girlfriends or boyfriends, distant relatives, etc., time and distance still can move people to a place where they don’t communicate as often, don’t get to see each other much or just plain lose track of one another. Who would you like to track down if you had the chance? Share your take with Jerry and Debbie on Monday at Noon ET (with a reply at Midnight ET).

Is Love a Feeling or a Choice?

We have heard it said that love is a choice.  When we consciously choose to love another then we experience feelings of the heart.  We can encounter feelings of joy, feelings of pain, feelings of anger.  Deciding to lead with a sense of love, can be one of the greatest spiritual lessons of life.  Love is a complicated word and in order to try and begin to understand this concept, we must first look at who is love- God!  Join us in this fascinating discussion by calling 1-800-585-9396.

Are You a Thrift Store Shopper?

Thrift stores are everywhere. Some people never consider shopping at them. Others frequent them for all sorts of things they’re looking for. The existence of thrift stores affords us all sorts of opportunities to live out our Christian faith. Those with excess clothing and other items can donate them, clearing out their own “stuff,” and making quality merchandise available to those who can’t afford to pay retail prices. And many thrift stores are operated by Christian ministries, so we’re helping them with their mission as well. And, of course, as noted above, those who have limited resources, or are otherwise trying to live a life of good stewardship, can very often find great things at prices far lower than in retail stores. So, here’s the question: Are you a thrift store shopper? Or do you donate things to help others? Let’s talk about it today on Take 2 With Jerry and Debbie.

No Regrets!

regrets-t2.jpg

My favorite statement is, “no regrets.”  Jerry has heard me say this over and over again.  Why do I feel so adamant about that remark?  For years, I have encountered people who have been paralyzed in their life journey due to regrets that they just can’t seem to let go of.  Regrets are baggage that weigh down the soul and put a huge barrier between the person and God.  When we hold onto regrets, an enormous sense of unworthiness tends to overshadow the person and the graces available from God are not fully received.  Regrets are satan’s attempts of trapping us in cement.  Let’s talk about ways we can move forward past all the regrets and experience God’s immense love for us.  Share your experience by calling, 1-800-585-9396.

The Third Person of the Trinity

HS-t2.jpg

Join us at Take 2 with Jerry and Debbie as we learn more about the Holy Spirit.  Often times, people really can’t explain or even understand the role of the third person of the Trinity.  Many tend to reference the Holy Spirit without truly grasping the power of the Spirit.  Today’s show will be a fundamental discussion about the Holy Spirit and a chance for us to grow closer to the third person of the Trinity.  This is a show you don’t want to miss. Our call in number is: 1-800-585-9396.

Have we taken Jesus humor too far?

buddy-jesus

We know that Jesus was all human and all divine.  With human qualities comes a sense of humor.  But have we taken this too far?  Is it acceptable for us as Catholic Christians to allow Jesus to be the brunt of jokes?   Comedy clubs have made a fortune at the expense of our Lord and Savior.  Whether it is Jesus jokes, or taking our Lord’s name in vain, comedy has plummeted into making a mockery of our God.  The question is, should we ignore what happens and chalk it up as innocent fun, or should we boycott the use of Jesus as a form of entertainment? Let’s talk about this.  Call in at 1-800-585-9396.
