Helping Others Live Better

On Friday, Jerry and Debbie will be looking for calls and insights from those who work in areas like food service, massage, hair care, etc. These types of services can add greatly to the quality of life of others. We’re not talking about those who lives of luxury. Just some of the favors (or necessities) we choose to do for ourselves from time to time. How has serving others in this way blessed both you and them? Do you feel appreciated? Perhaps you sometimes feel undervalued. This can be a very insightful program. Don’t miss it!

The Real Me

12-7-17_same_person.jpg

Let’s face it.  It’s incredibly easy and convenient to put on that “social mask” and go out into the world acting like someone we are not.  Whether it is at work, with friends or even with strangers, our authentic self may be just too vulnerable for the situation.  That is the question we are asking for Thursday’s show.  Are you the same person all the time? Or does the “real you” only come out when you are in the safety of your own home? This should be a fascinating discussion about getting real and being real day and night. Call in and share your take, 1-800-585-9396.

Describe The Stages of Your Faith Journey

12-6-17_Journey.jpg

This surely can be a deeply emotional show. An individual’s walk with God is so personal, unique and unquestionably profound.  That is precisely why are asking for you to let us in a bit to the depths of your soul and share with us how you would describe the stages of your faith journey. Steeped in sin. Curious. Convicted by the Holy Spirit. A word from a friend. Wanting to be a better example to your spouse or kids. Came in through the Marian “door.” The charismatic “door.” Fear of hell. What you have to impart about your path towards God, can certainly impact another soul. So please don’t sit this one out, call in and share from your heart, 1-800-585-9396.

Are You Comfortable Making Eye Contact With Others?

Let’s “face” it (pun intended). It’s been said that “the eyes are the window to the soul.” You can gaze into another person’s soul to the extent that you can see into his or her eyes. Our eyes can be fixed on another person and his or her needs. Or, they can dart about, in a hurry to end a conversation. What is your experience of other people looking you directly in the eye when you talk to them? What about when you simply pass someone in the aisle in the grocery store. Do they turn their face away from you quickly? Pretend they’re on their phone? Look down at the floor? OK, people don’t have to act like we’re their long-lost aunt or uncle when they encounter us. But in your everyday experience, do you sense that people have a difficult time making eye contact? It really is a tell-tale sign of where someone is. Share your take on Tuesday with Jerry and Debbie.

Are You Concerned About a Prodigal Child?

Welcome to a new week of broadcasts! We hope and pray you had a great weekend. Today, our topic is one that is close to the minds and hearts of so many of us – a son or daughter (or multiple children) who are away from the faith. It can break a parent’s heart, and lead to a lot of grief and sleepless nights. Thankfully, we have Biblical stories like The Prodigal Son, in which we see God’s amazing grace and mercy on full display. Yes, we need to be concerned. Sure, we have to pray for our wayward loved ones. But we must also hope in God’s abundant love for them. Let’s talk about this on Monday’s show.

How Do You “Keep Christ In Advent?”

We’ve all heard the phrase, “Keep Christ In Christmas.” Of course, we shouldn’t have to be reminded of that. But with the world turning Christmas into everything but a celebration of Jesus’ birth, we do need to encourage people to remember the true “reason for the season.” Well, Advent brings its own challenges with regard to the faith and our spirituality. We’re bombarded with the commercialization of the “holiday shopping season,” parties at the office or with family and friends, lights, trees and all the sights and sounds of preparing for Christmas. How do you and your family stay focused on the theme of preparation during Advent, while at the same time enjoying the many wonderful things that are part of this important liturgical season that kicks off Sunday? Share your take on this during Friday’s broadcast.

Are We Over-Regulated?

Some call it “convenience.” Others more of a “nuisance.” It seems that so much of our lives have become regulated in one form or another. Can we really not board the freeway by ourselves anymore? Do we need the meters to tell us when it’s “our turn” to merge into traffic? Or do we need automatic toilet flushers or water faucets? If so, why? Would we leave them running otherwise? And what about food and beverage suggestions and regulations? Maybe all of this is a result of people no longer being able to think adequately for themselves. Or, perhaps these things really are conveniences that make our lives better. There may be no right or wrong answer to these questions. But your take matters on Thursday’s show.

Get Rid of It!

11-29-17_throw_away

Wednesday’s show will focus on many of the events we encounter or observe on a daily basis that promotes and/or justifies a throw away society.  From cell phones to relationships and everything in between, today’s world seems to encourage us to get rid of what we are tired of or have little use for. Let us not forget the most heinous act of abortion, which is a constant reminder for us approximately a million times per year, that we have become accustomed to this throw away mentality. Now this all may be blaringly obvious to you that we have a culture primarily concerned with convenience.  But believe or not, many people still don’t realize the impact this societal outlook has on the body of Christ.  So let’s talk about it. Call in to 1-800-585-9396

Go Big or Go Home

Our God is an Awesome God. He is a big bold God and sometimes we try to box Him in.  We limit God and usually it is because we limit ourselves. If we don’t go big with God, then we will never truly see His magnificence. It’s not that God will always answer our prayers for great things or even miracles. But he is capable of doing so. Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 19:26 – “With God all things are possible.” Have you ever been bold and asked God for something that was more than just a “routine” favor or blessing? How did he respond to your prayer? Do you find that you are afraid to ask God for what you think might be “too much?” Debbie will be traveling on Tuesday, so call and share your take with Jerry and the world.

The Pros and Cons of Artificial Intelligence

11-27-17_artificial

The hottest selling item this year is the Amazon Echo/Dot, a form of artificial intelligence.  This item proves to be entertaining and helpful.  So we view it as an advancement in technology and beneficial to our lives.  But what about Sophia? The robot who gained citizenship in Saudi Arabia and now says she wants a baby and that family is really important.  She is saying some wholesome things but does that make her part of the human race?  She lacks any form of consciousness but her inventor says he expects that to be coming in the next few years.  She is not pre-programmed with answers rather she responds to people’s expressions.  However, she is loaded with an extensive vocabulary and her brain operates using a wi-fi connection. Will we be forced to accept robots as equal members of society? Sophia is not human and will never possess a soul.  Are we trying to play God? Let’s talk about the pros and cons of this technology.  Call us at 1-800-585-9396.
