Take 2 with Jerry & Debbie

Who Is Your “Go-To” Saint?

Padre Pio said he was not going to enter the pearly gates until all of his adopted spiritual sons and daughters got in. So, that would make him still very active in ministry here on earth. Therese of Lisieux said, “I will spend my heaven doing good on earth.” And we all know that St Anthony is active in our lives for sure. We could all share a take on how one of these saints – or many others – have benefited us during our lives. On Tuesday, share with the Take 2 family the saints are active in your life, trying hard to get you to heaven, especially if there’s one you go to on a regular basis!

Support for praying to Mary and the saints.

Once a month, Jerry and Debbie invite your calls, takes, comments, questions or insights on whatever is on your mind or in your heart. We call it “Unscripted,” as we come with no set topic or agenda. You determine what we discuss, so get ready to let the world know what’s important to you on Friday!

I Can’t Talk to Family or Friends About Politics!

It seems the world is at opposite ends when it comes to the political spectrum. But when it becomes a source of tension in our own families or among our friends, then it just adds to the stress level of the house or our relationships, something none of us want to see increase. What’s the best way to maintain harmony even though we have differing political views that are important to us as well. This problem does not just hurt our families, it is damaging friendships as well. Share your take with Jerry and Debbie on Wednesday.

Chris in Ft. Worth asked about attending the wedding of a fallen-away Catholic. Here is an article in EWTN’s National Catholic Register that addresses that.

Food and Fellowship

Take2_071918- meals

We read in Scripture how Jesus dined with His followers. Friendships are made, deepened and sometimes broken around meals. Judas is a perfect example at the Last Supper. Gathering together around a meal tends to bring out characteristics of the human person that we may not see in other settings, such as at work, school, etc. Meals are vitally important, and in this day and age they have been disregarded as a waste of time, another one of Satan’s tactics that we fell for. How long do you dine with family and friends? What sorts of conversations do you have? Are technological gadgets prohibited or allowed at your meals? Are certain topics of discussion off limits, or does anything go? How often do you gather with loved ones and just savor the food and the time together? When was the last time you all had a hearty laugh at the meal table? Share your take with Jerry and Debbie on Thursday.

My Wish Is…

If you were granted one wish – just one – and it had to be for the entire world, what would it be? Share with us your wish for the world to use a Christian term, your prayer for the world. We all want something for this beautiful world. On Wednesday, Jerry and Debbie give you a chance to speak it loudly to the world that is listening. Take advantage of this unique opportunity!

What Would You Like to Hear in Homilies?

We know that the priest or deacon addresses the readings at Mass in the course of their homilies. But how many homilies do you really remember? Some clergy have a skilled way of bringing real life circumstances into the homily, thus providing a practical approach on living out the gospel message. This has lasting effects in the lives of the faithful. But many times the homily is solely focused on the readings and provides little real life application. Maybe that is why many folks say they cannot remember the homily after leaving Mass. If you could suggest topics that Father/Deacon could weave into their homilies, what would they be? Share your take on Monday when Jerry returns to the show after his short summer break!

Protecting Innocent Minds and Hearts

It’s been nearly a month since the last fatal mass school shooting. There seems to be one senseless tragedy after another in our nation. There are so many other horrific things going on in the world. Terrorism. Kidnappings. Human trafficking. Gender confusion. The list is endless. As a parent, you realize that there are appropriate times to talk to your kids about these things, and there are other times when it’s prudent to do what you can to avoid drawing too much attention to them. On Tuesday, let us hear from you about your approach to safeguarding your kids’ innocent minds and hearts, while at the same time using even sorrowful events to be teaching moments.

Whose Name Tags Are On Your Crosses?

We know that we all have our particular cross to carry in life. Jesus says that if we don’t take it up and carry it, we cannot be His disciples. But most, if not all, of us take crosses upon ourselves that don’t have our names on them, and were not intended for us to carry. The divorce of parents, an alcoholic mother or father, being abused in some manner, a feeling of rejection in life. These can all result in heavy crosses that do not have our names on them. Yet, we still lug them around as though we were responsible for what was done to us by others. Are you carrying crosses that have other people’s name tags on them? Let’s talk about this on Thursday, and maybe we can all grow a little closer to God – and to peace of mind and heart.

My Dad Always Said…

Last week, while we were still in the Month of Mary, we asked you to share a pearl of wisdom you learned from your earthly mother or grandmother. In June, we honor the dads with the celebration of Father’s Day. So, on Wednesday, please share with us what words of wisdom or advice your father or grandfather imparted to you. Maybe you didn’t realize how profound their statements or examples were until you lived long enough to experience them for yourself. It surely would be to our advantage if we tap into their wisdom and honor them for taking the time to care about us.

What Beneficial Life Change Have You Made?

It’s always good to be reviewing our lives in order to see where we might tweak this or change that in order to better ourselves. This can take countless forms. Things like losing weight, cutting back on drinking or smoking, deciding to attend daily Mass, switching jobs – you name it. Making positive changes can add immensely to our quality of life and move us further down the path of being the best version of ourselves. On Tuesday, call and share an impactful change you have made along the road of your life.
