Is There Anything You Fear In Life?

Fear is a part of human life. There are countless things we can fear. That we might lose our job. That someone we love will not return that love. That we won’t be able to make a mortgage payment or a car payment. It’s very natural for these types of fears to present themselves to us. It’s what we do with them that matters most. Jesus says in Scripture, “Fear is useless; what is needed is trust.” On Tuesday, let’s have a lively conversation about fear and how to keep it from dominating our lives.

Pride Goes Before a Fall

The sin of pride goes all the way back to the creation of man and woman. The angels were tested as well, and those who would not serve God based that unfortunate decision on pride. There is a healthy form of pride, like being “proud” to be a Catholic. That is quite different from the dangerous type of pride that leads people to do all sorts of horrible things. Is there a rise in pridefulness in our world today? Share your thoughts and insights on Thursday’s broadcast.

Lulu sent in St. Teresa of Calcutta’s ways of staying humble:

Speak as little as possible about yourself.

Keep busy with your own affairs and not those of others.

Avoid curiosity (though I don’t think that she is referring to learning, here)

Do not interfere in the affairs of others.

Accept small irritations with good humor.

Do not dwell on the faults of others.

Accept censures even if unmerited.

Give in to the will of others.

Accept insults and injuries.

Accept contempt, being forgotten and disregarded.

Be courteous and delicate even when provoked by someone.

Do not seek to be admired and loved.

Do not protect yourself behind your own dignity.

Give in, in discussions, even when you are right.

Choose always the more difficult task.
