Close-Knit Families

Close_knit-t2 (1).jpg

Monday on Take 2 with Jerry and Debbie, we will be discussing the close bond some families share.  Having a close-knit family, whether it be immediate or with extended family, is truly a gift.  Not everyone gets that deep, joyful experience with family members.  Share with us about your family dynamics.  What has worked in your home to keep the emotional attachment healthy and thriving amongst the members of your family.  What you have to teach us, may be life changing to those who are listening.  Call in early at 1-800-585-9396.

“We Almost Didn’t Make It”

God asks us to be open to life, especially within a marriage and family. That doesn’t mean having as many children as you possibly can. But when God blesses you with a number of kids, priorities and decisions take on a new meaning. Given economic uncertainties, the loss of a job, or any number of other circumstances, a family can find itself hanging on by a thread when it comes to paying the rent or mortgage, feeding the kids, etc. Share your experience of finding yourself in a precarious position and almost not managing to get by. How did you manage? What did God do to rescue you?

Rethinking Heaven and Hell

God makes every human being to know him, love him, serve him and be happy with him in eternity. Because of fears, insecurities, wounds, etc., many people observe the faith because they want to avoid going to hell. But, in reality, believing in Jesus, belonging to the Church and living an upright life should flow from the realization of who we are (made in God’s image), and because He desires that “all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.” Join Jerry and Debbie on Wednesday to talk about your deepest motivation for going to heaven.

Yes, I Will!

will_2.jpg

What Have You Had to Will Your Way Through?  Every day, we face things we don’t want to do. Some are of major consequence, while others might be as simple as getting out of bed the first time the alarm rings. God gave us the great gift of free will. There are times when we have to say to ourselves, “I don’t want to do this. It won’t be enjoyable. But it’s the right thing.” Share your experience of “willing” your way to something important. Call in at 1-800-585-9396.

A Family Torn Apart

family_torn.jpg

It is so tragic when kids are put in the middle of a divorce.  They did not ask to be involved.  All that children want is a loving, stable home.  This devastating set of circumstances can and does escalate into what is known as Parental Alienation.  Sadly to state, this horrific situation is on the rise in our culture.  Parental Alienation, put simply, is when one parent systematically, intentionally ruins the relationship between the children and the other parent or family members.  Parental Alienation can occur within an intact marriage, although more often it is after a divorce when this situation begins to take shape.  The effects of this form of manipulation leaves lasting wounds on the children and the alienated parent. Reunification is possible but unfortunately when the damage is so deep, and the emotional bonds are broken the relationship is forever scarred.  This is a highly sensitive subject, often misunderstood, but worthy of a dedicated hour to raise awareness of this growing epidemic.  Share your story by calling, 1-800-585-9396.

How do I become a saint?

become_saint.jpg

Join us on Take 2 with Jerry and Debbie as we discuss, with your help, the ways we can become saints.  The canonized saints in the Catholic Church are the best role models for us in our quest for holiness.  We can learn so much from their lives.  There are also “saints” in our midst, on their journey to heaven.  We are all called to be saints, but sometimes we just don’t know where to begin.  Let’s talk about it. 1-800-585-9396.
