Or do you bend the rules to appease your adult children?  These conditions can cause a lot of grieve for parents. Especially, when parents are not on the same page.  This topic was suggested to us by one of our listeners and we are grateful to her for bringing this issue to us so that we can all talk about it. You’ve Got To Be Kidding Me!

6-27-2018--national day

Unbelievable!  We recently learned that there are over 1500 national days not to mention all the international days dedicated to something in particular.  The ones that get us the most are the days that tell us how to be Christian, like July 7th, National Father-Daughter Take a Walk Day.  Are you kidding?  We need a designated day to remind us that we should be spending time with our daughters and taking nice long leisurely walks with them in the park.  Or how about National Cheer Up the Lonely Day on July 11th.  So, if we are to take these days seriously, then for just one day a year we must make that concerted effort to be good, virtuous and holy…The rest of the year?…Oh well, the world doesn’t seem to care how we behave.  Let’s talk about this on the next Take 2 with Jerry and Debbie.  Call in at, 1-833-288-3986.

I Have Arrived!

6-25-2018--attention.jpg

Many people do not like the spotlight on them.  In fact, some folks will go out of their way, just to avoid attention.  Then there are others that love and crave being the life of the party. Is that you?  With all the attention, comes the compliments and the criticisms. Having attention can be a good and not so good thing. Let’s talk about this personality trait and see what is at the root of it. Share your “take” on this by calling, 1-833-288-3986.

Nothing To Prove

Living In The Light

6-21-2018--summer-days (1)

Life is full of cycles and seasons. Thursday, June 21, 2018 is considered the “longest” day of this year, at least in terms of daylight hours. During the winter, we may tend to shut things down earlier because darkness falls earlier. In the summer, when daylight hours are extended, it affords us the opportunity to spend more time outdoors, whether that’s getting work or chores done, or just recreating. God gives us these seasons for a purpose. How do you capitalize on the longer daylight hours, and how is this time of year “different” for you than winter time? Call us and share your experience. 1-833-288-3986.

How Are You?

6-20-2018--howyadoin

It rolls off our tongues easily, regardless of whom we meet…family member, friend, total stranger…”how you doin’?”…It’s usually a courtesy… Most of the time it is just an automatic response with no real thought or meaning behind it.  In fact, we may even be caught off guard if someone were to answer with, “I am actually not doing well.” Now what?  Do we stop and chat with this person, or pray with them?  Or do we just nod and move past the encounter as if it was not stated at all. How can we ask others how they are doing and really mean it? Share your “take” on this.  1-833-288-3986.

I Could Kick Myself (But I Won’t)

6-19-2018--missed-target.jpg

It happens all the time in life. We allow moments and opportunities to pass us by, only to wish we had acted when the time was right. These could be little things, or they could be very significant things. The old saying is, “I could kick myself.” And, yes, maybe something special passed us by. But it might also have been God’s will that it didn’t happen. Instead of saying, “I could kick myself,” how do we learn and grow through such experiences? Be more attentive to what’s going on in our lives right now? Not miss the opportunity to “strike while the iron is hot?” Share your take on how your life has been shaped – for better or for worse – by seemingly missed opportunities. Here is the show number to call and get on the air, 1-833-288-3986.

They Don’t Listen Anymore

6-18-2018--adult-children

When the children are little, it seems quite natural as parents to take control, make decisions and direct the children when necessary.  But when those same children become adults and have definite ideas of their own, then the situation changes dramatically for the parents.  Is it healthy to just try and be a friend to your adult children or should you always maintain those boundaries and be the parent first?  Adult children don’t seem to always listen to their parents anymore.  It is an interesting dynamic that unfolds in the world of parenting.  Let’s talk about this on Monday’s Take 2 with Jerry and Debbie.  Jerry is on a short vacation this week, so please call in and keep Debbie company on the show.  1-833-288-3986.
