Take 2 with Jerry & Debbie

Working For Christian Unity

One of the greatest scandals of all time – possibly the greatest – is the division that exists within the Body of Christ. Jesus intended to found one Church, not tens of thousands. Yet, sadly, there exist so many differences between the various Christian traditions that it creates a barrier for those who are seeking truth to know where to find it. Sure, we need to focus a lot on what unites us. But if we were to overcome the differences and live according to the ways laid out for us by the Lord, the world would be vastly different. In fact, it would likely be transformed overnight. Join Jerry and Debbie on Monday and share your take on how you believe each one of us can be an instrument in helping to bring about unity in the Body of Christ.

  1. I think it is presumptuous to the point of absurdity to suggest the there is a simple solution to this problem, that can be resolved in a 50 minute radio program, Instead, this is just another time-killer program. EWTN has multiple radio programs dealing with this topic aimed at chipping away at one person at a time. In the gospels, it seems that Jesus often converts one person at a time.

How many people does EWTN radio (in general) and the Take2Show convert in a day? I think it’s worth asking. People call in all the time and ramble on and on, but who is converted? Maybe that could be a topic for an upcoming show, to find out what about Take2 made a difference for somebody.

    • Abe,

Thanks for the show suggestion! And we appreciate your candid comments about this particular topic. In case you didn’t read all the way to the end of the post on the website, here is what it says:

“Join Jerry and Debbie on Monday and share your take on how you believe each one of us can be an instrument in helping to bring about unity in the Body of Christ.”

Notice that we’re asking people to offer ways that they believe each of us can do our small part to help bring Christians together, not solve the matter in 50 (actually 54) minutes. Yes, EWTN has many shows that address this subject. But many, if not most, of them approach it from a theological or apologetical standpoint. We’re merely presenting a discussion of how we all can make a difference in our individual spheres of influence. Kind of like one person at a time.

We will be grateful for your prayers, and we promise you ours.

      God bless.
