38102fc13827149c2f1294da453d93ef

Clutter can be overwhelming and distracting…Decluttering your surroundings can naturally lead to a more spiritual life.  A life focused on God.  It is a freeing exercise to rid oneself of excess “stuff” and to simplify.  Join us Monday on Take 2 with Jerry and Debbie as we discuss the process of decluttering. How easy it is, and the effect it has almost immediately on our life~all for the good!!!

Remember, the definition of clutter is to fill or cover something with many things.

The definition of declutter is to organize and prioritize.

It is obvious which one is better for our spiritual growth…

Share your “take” with us at 9am Pacific, Noon Eastern…

Is the Assumption an Assumption?

Many people – both Catholics and non-Catholics – have no idea what to make of the Church’s teaching on the Virgin Mary’s bodily assumption into Heaven. Is it historical? Is there anything in the Bible that supports it? Did Mary die before being taken into Heaven? Lots of questions surround this very important Catholic teaching. We’ll discuss it – and include your takes – on Friday’s show. We’re very close to lining up a guest who knows a LOT about this topic. So, don’t miss it!

Do You Know Someone Who Is “Spiritual,” But Not “Religious?”

That’s often another way of saying, “I know there’s something to this ‘God’ thing, but I have no interest in complying with the oppressive rules of any official Church or religious organization.” Or can it mean other things? Does this describe you? Someone you know and love? Wednesday on the program we will look at this phrase and try to unpack what it means when people utter it. Your takes drive the show, so be sure you tune in and call in!

Are You Or is Someone You Love in the Military?

Men and women who serve in the military don’t leave their faith behind at home when they enlist. In fact, as the saying goes, “There are no atheists in foxholes.” Military personnel are often the most faithful, prayerful and trusting in God’s grace and protection. The Church is diligently attentive to their spiritual needs through the ministry of our chaplains. One of them, Fr. Martin King, will be our guest on Tuesday as we talk about “Faith in Foxholes.” We look forward to your takes on the spiritual needs of our military personnel, and how the Church meets those needs on a daily basis!

The More Things Change…

…the more they stay the same. From the time of Christ, Christians have been persecuted. Some people hate the truth. They hate those who represent the truth. And the underworld (i.e. Satan and his demons) hates the truth with a voracious passion. In our day, conflicts are erupting all over the world. It seems to us that wherever that happens, Christians are being tormented, persecuted, driven out, and even martyred for their faith. On Monday, we’ll take up this topic – with the usual help of your takes. Join us for “Christians In the Crosshairs.”

God’s gift to us: The Angels

angel1

Psalm 91

Assurance of God’s Protection

You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
    who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress;
    my God, in whom I trust.”
For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
    and from the deadly pestilence;
he will cover you with his pinions,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
    his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
You will not fear the terror of the night,
    or the arrow that flies by day,
or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
    or the destruction that wastes at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
You will only look with your eyes
    and see the punishment of the wicked.

Because you have made the Lord your refuge,
    the Most High your dwelling place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
    no scourge come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
    so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
    the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.

14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
    I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
    I will be with them in trouble,
    I will rescue them and honor them.
16 With long life I will satisfy them,
    and show them my salvation.

St. Padre Pio “The angels around the altar adore and love.”

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host –
by the Divine Power of God –
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Friday’s show is dedicated to the Angels.  Join us as we show our gratitude to God by celebrating the gift of the Angels! Share your stories about your Guardian Angel so that we can all learn and appreciate their presence in our lives!

The Influence of Advertising

How much do you think is spent globally each year on advertising?  According to emarketer.com, that amount is well over half a trillion dollars. That’s a lot of money. Of course, since money is so often spent where it will generate more money, corporations would not spend nearly that much if it weren’t having an impact.

You might say, “Well, I’m not swayed by advertising. I buy what I want, and avoid doing business with those companies I don’t want to patronize.” However, whether we like it or not, we are all influenced by advertising, so much of which uses immoral means to try to persuade us to buy certain products.

On Thursday, we’ll discuss this very important subject. And we’ll look forward to your takes on the power and influence of advertising. Don’t miss it!

Forgive and Forget

Here’s one definition of forgiveness:

  1. Forgiveness is the intentional and voluntary process by which a victim undergoes a change in feelings and attitude regarding an offense, lets go of negative emotions such as vengefulness, with an increased ability to wish the offender well.

In the Christian life, this is so very important. The Lord’s prayer is a strong reminder that we will be forgiven to the degree we forgive those who have offended us. We can speak from personal experience that to forgive others – especially those who have seriously wronged you – from your heart is like receiving a blood transfusion. Forgiveness = Life.

Do you want the fullest life possible? Ask Jesus to help you forgive everyone who has hurt you. And be sure to share your take on forgiving and forgetting on Wednesday’s show!
