How Do You Develop Good Habits?

Life is full of opportunities to develop either good habits or bad habits. Of course, if you ask almost anyone, he will tell you that he would rather cultivate the good ones. But that takes intentional efforts on our part, making right choices and practicing good habits over and over again. On Friday, share your take with Jerry and Debbie – and the world – on how you work hard to make sure your good habits far outweighs your bad ones.

Is God Dead?

Of course, that’s a facetious question to those who believe in God, in Jesus and in His Church. But study after study, poll after poll, seem to indicate a decline in the belief in God. But does His existence and involvement in human affairs depend on a majority opinion? Jerry and Debbie – and, most likely, you – would answer to the contrary. So, how does public opinion about God, His existence and His relevance affect you, if at all? Do you have family members or friends who claim there is no God? How do you dialogue with them in an attempt to charitably and articulately persuade them to change their minds? Remember, your takes drive the show, so join us for this important discussion on Thursday at Noon ET!

Are You Afraid to Travel By Air?

Jerry and Debbie made it safely to St. Louis on Tuesday, in anticipation of the OneFaith Experience on Saturday. They’ll be back on the air on Wednesday with a timely topic: how do you feel about traveling by air? It’s so commonplace nowadays that it’s easy to forget that some people still are uncomfortable hopping on an airplane and ascending to 40,000 feet. Yet, its often said that it’s safer to travel somewhere by plane than it is by car. What accounts for people’s reluctance to fly the “friendly skies?” Share your take on Wednesday’s program at Noon ET.

How Well Do You Suffer?

Archbishop Fulton Sheen commented that so much suffering “goes to waste.” To the world – and also to too many Christians – that is a very odd phrase. But suffering is a part of life. Everyone’s life. Without exception. It’s going to come. But it’s what we do with our suffering that matters. We can choose to “waste” it by resisting it, fleeing from it, getting angry at God, and so forth. Or we can be a conduit of incredible graces to the world, especially to those who are suffering. There’s nothing wrong with seeking to eliminate suffering whenever possible. But when it seems that it must be a part of our lives, how well do we handle it? That’s what we want your takes on with Jerry and Debbie on Monday at Noon ET (with a replay of the show at Midnight ET).

A Battle of Wills!

Your loved one passes away.  You are hurting, in shock and grieving.  Then comes the reading of the Will.  What follows next in some families could make for a great screenplay.  It seems that money can bring out the worst in people.  We want to tackle this subject in a real and honest way.  Has this situation happened to you?  Did the Will cause a family breakup?  If you can relate to this scenario, then please call in and share your take at 1-800-585-9396.  You may have a story of family healing and restoration that could help someone else going through this painful experience.

Do You Know a Moral Relativist?

Simple math tells us that there are realities outside of ourselves (for example, 2 + 2 = 4) that impose themselves upon us. It’s not for us to determine whether they’re right or wrong. Rather, if we’re honest, we must conform our thinking and behavior to those realities. Yet, all around us – perhaps in our families or circle of friends – are those who see things differently, who say things like, “Well, that may be true for you. But it’s not true for me.” On Thursday, Jerry and Debbie will ask listeners how they engage in dialogue with those who embrace a relativist position. The show airs at Noon ET, with a reply at Midnight ET.

How Well Do You Appreciate the Gift of Faith?

We’ve all heard the saying: “But for the grace of God go I.” There’s a ton of wisdom in that. And it’s a great reminder that we are not the originators of the gift of faith we have received. God is. We all know people who do not believe in God, in Jesus, in the Church. They do not have the gift of faith. Why is that? Why did I receive this incredible gift, but not my brother, my sister, my son or daughter, my neighbor or co-worker. Sometimes we can become critical of those without the gift of faith. Until we meditate on the fact that it’s just that – a gift. We did nothing to receive it. Therefore, we should not look down in any way on those who do not have faith. Rather, we need to pray for them to be open to the gift God wants all people to receive. Share your take Wednesday on how grateful you are to have faith. Jerry and Debbie will be joined on the show by Don Johnson, a recent convert to Catholicism.

And Justice For All?

It happens every day. All the time. People get away with things, even extremely improper things. Politicians who should go to jail. Heads of corporations who lie about their business dealings. The list would be very long. For those with a heightened sense of justice, it’s often difficult to not lash out in anger over what is going unpunished. Of course, God will sort everything out in the end. But that doesn’t always make it easy to sit back while people get away with all sorts of heinous injustices. What should be our approach as followers of Jesus. How can we wish for justice while hoping and praying for mercy? Share your take on Tuesday with Jerry and Debbie!

Finding God in Nature

On Monday, Jerry and Debbie will be joined by Fr. John Bartunek, author of a new book titled Spring Meditations. We’ll talk about how we can so easily discover the hand of God in the created world around us, but how we so often fail to make the time necessary to do so. In his new book, Fr. Bartunek discusses how the season of spring provides us with a multitude of opportunities to find God in nature. Remember, your takes drive the show at Noon ET on EWTN Radio!
