Life is filled with worries, even though Jesus advises us not to be concerned and to trust completely in Him. There are even times when we fear certain things are going to happen – even though there is no concrete reason to think they will – and those fears become realized. Is that a matter of worrying our way to difficulties or challenges? Do our thoughts sometimes influence our actions such that we actually help to bring about the things we irrationally fear? On Monday, Jerry and Debbie will talk about the upcoming 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. Or, what some people call the Protestant “Revolt.” It was led by a Catholic priest named Martin Luther. On October 31, 1517, he posted what are commonly referred to as his “95 theses.” Luther’s main contention was that the Catholic Church was selling indulgences. It was surely a time when the Church was in need of reform. But was a wholesale abandonment of the faith in order? History has revealed that Luther’s personal problems helped lead to his departure from the 1500-year history of the Christian Church. And we all know what that has turned into today. Drugs are a very serious problem in our culture. A lot of people today struggle with this epidemic. Many of us went through high school and into adulthood “experimenting” with drugs, only to realize that it wasn’t the right path to go down. Others still find themselves dependent upon one or another drug.
