Have You Had to Give Up a Favorite Activity or Pastime?

As life goes on, circumstances sometimes dictate that it’s time to hang up our sneakers. In some cases, literally. Maybe the body tells us that we should no longer play basketball, lift weights, go hiking, bowl in a league, and so forth. For others, this can take the form of no longer being able to drive, or even retiring from a job they’ve loved. If this has happened to you or someone you know, share your take with Jerry and Debbie today at Noon ET (with a reply at Midnight ET).

Never-ending arguments

toilet-paper

So many of us have encountered this, the perpetual, never-ending arguments that seem to have a predictable beginning and no real resolution.  These types of disagreements can occur in our homes, workplaces and communities.  They can happen frequently with our spouses or even our own children.  Obviously, this type of argument is the symptom and the real root of the problem lies deep within.  Share with us your experience of this unproductive cycle, maybe how you healed the cause, and possibly brought back harmony into the relationship.  Call in early though, this topic is a hot button for a lot of listeners.  Mondays are always exciting on Take 2 with Jerry and Debbie.  1-800-585-9396

Do You “Celebrate” the Super Bowl?

OK, so we used the word “celebrate” in a playful sort of way. But the truth is, for some people, the Super Bowl has become a far bigger day to commemorate than many holidays. The whole world seems fascinated by “the big game.” How has it changed over the years? The first couple times the Super Bowl was played, the NFL couldn’t give tickets away. Today, unless you work for a global corporate giant, good luck getting tickets. Then there are the endless pre- and post-game shows, designed, of course, with plenty of time to show you a gazillion ads. Speaking of ads, a lot of people watch the Super Bowl precisely because it’s become known as the event where corporations roll out their flashy new – and often very funny – commercials. Oh, and let’s not forget how betting makes its way to the water cooler each year with the various pools that fans participate in. And, buried someone beneath all this and more, a football game is played. So, today, share your take on the significance of the Super Bowl, if you watch the game, if you stay tuned in for the halftime show, and so forth. We’ll be on at Noon ET, with a replay at Midnight ET.

How are you taking care of your precious heart?

Since February is the month dedicated to heart health, it is important to discuss how so many of us are abusing our hearts through unhealthy eating, lack of exercise, stress and more.
In addition to that, many live life with somewhat of a broken heart.  God sees your heart. TAKE 2 asks “What are we doing to care for and protect the heart?” Share your take with Jerry & Debbie on Thursday at Noon ET (with a replay at Midnight ET).

Ever Feel Moody or Irritable For No Apparent Reason?

It happens to all of us. Some days, you just get up on the wrong side of the bed. Little things seem to bug you that, in most instances, you wouldn’t be bothered by at all. You’re a bit irritable. Maybe your mood changes out of nowhere in the middle of the day. Tons of factors could account for this. If you’ve experienced it, how did you manage to remain polite, charitable, generous, etc., until it passed? Share your take on Wednesday at Noon ET (with a replay at Midnight ET).

DIVINE INTERUPTION

In times of trouble GOD has encourage me to practice HIS way of restoring PEACE. PEACE not only in my life but in the lives of others. In doing so we all can participate in His work of salvation for others through our SACRIFICES of MERCY and LOVE. This came to me in the form of an acronym called S.T.O.P. This insight was inspired in prayer during Advent of 2013.

S:    To begin living in GOD’S way of restored peace the Psalmist tells us in Psalm 46:10 “Be STILL and know that I am GOD” He wants us to always trust securely in His Divine assistance. Knowing that He will never abandon us. This allows Him to bring us to the victory He wants for us. Assuring us that His fatherly tenderness is irrevocable..

T:    After STILLING ourselves we enter into THANKSGIVING. The Psalmist tells us in Psalm 50:14 “Offer to GOD a sacrifice of THANKSGIVING”      he continues in V!5   “and call upon Me in the day of TROUBLE; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”…then in.V24    “He who brings THANKSGIVING as his sacrifice honors Me; to him who orders his way aright I will show the salvation of GOD”  This attitude of THANKSGIVING not only allows us the grace to grow in our TRUST in GOD’S providential care over us but also gives us the strength to bare our cross in union with the cross of Christ.

O:    Paul tells us in Eph.4:26 “Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no OPPORTUNITY to the devil”.  Also Paul tells us in Col. 1:24  …”I am now rejoicing in my suffering for your sake”…He continues by saying that when we do this …”I am completing what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of His body , that is, His church” .  With this in mind we need to OBSERVE and see this trial our persecution as an OPPORTUNITY to share in the cross of Christ   the redeeming work of GOD’S Kingdom. In doing so we become conduits of GOD’S Grace that will help not only ourselves but  also the souls of others in their return to wholeness.

P:    Finally In Eph.6:18 Paul encourages us to “Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all Prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all PERSERVERANCE, making supplication for all the saints”.    Then Jesus in the Gospel of John 14:27 tells us the end result for us all    “PEACE I leave with you, MY PEACE I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid”. So here is the way to assure ourselves of lasting PEACE which will be restored in times of trouble and persecution.

Where Are My Gadgets?

In today’s world, it’s easier and more important than ever to stay connected. Many of the technological developments of our time are simply amazing. Yet, a growing number of people feel “anxious” when their phone, tablet or computer aren’t within easy reach. Others find themselves feeling “obligated” to communicate with friends and colleagues almost constantly through e-mail and social media. Becoming uncomfortable without one’s cell phone in hand has even acquired a name – “nomophobia,” or “no mobile phone phobia.” One reports states that it afflicts nearly two thirds of mobile phone users. On Monday, share your take with Jerry and Debbie and the world on how this affects you – if it does at all, and what steps you may have implemented in your life to keep the importance of your gadgets in proper perspective. The show airs at Noon and Midnight EWTN.

Are You (or Do You Know) a Guy In a Midlife Crisis?

Depending on where you live, the average lifespan for a male is between 75-80 years. A large number of men will experience what is often referred to as a midlife crisis. It’s estimated that this will happen – if it does at all – to a man between the ages of 35 and 50 (give or take). It’s when a guy thinks he’s reached life’s “halfway” point, and is frequently marked by thoughts of having not accomplished much in life, loss or diminishment of his once-robust physical and/or mental abilities, perhaps a failed marriage or friendships, etc. On Wednesday, we’re calling out for your takes on this. Men, let us hear from you. And, ladies, you’re welcome to join the conversation, too, if you know a male who has struggled with this phenomenon. We’re live at Noon ET, with a replay at Midnight ET.
