How Have You Become More Disciplined?

10_26_17 Discipline.jpgThroughout our lives, there are many times when discipline is imposed upon us from without. Our families, schools, the military and the workplace are some clear examples of this. But life requires us to practice self-discipline in many other areas. How have you become a more disciplined person as your life has gone on? Maybe you’ve committed to getting up earlier and praying each morning. Perhaps you found the will to lose some excess weight. It could be that you had a “regular” habit or sin that you have eliminated from your life. You’ll teach many others by sharing your example of self-discipline on Thursday with Jerry and Debbie.

Do You Sometimes Feel Like God Isn’t There?

We all know that God is omnipresent (everywhere), omniscient (all-knowing), all-loving, all-caring, etc. At least, we know those things in our heads. Sometimes our hearts aren’t as quick to follow along. That can be due to many reasons. The truth is, we can be sure that it’s all true. Yet, there can be many times in life when we talk to God, reach out to Him, seek His comfort and consolations, and it just doesn’t seem like He is there, that He is hearing us, that he truly cares. While He always does, how do you deal with those times when you’re at the end of your rope and just need to know that God is with you in times of trial? Share your take on this on Wednesday with Jerry and Debbie.

Wedding Day Blessings

OK. Let’s take a trip in the way-back machine (or maybe not so “way back” for some of you). If you’re married, you surely remember your wedding day. Did you look into your spouse’s eyes and feel like you’d hit the jackpot? Of course you did. What happened on that day? Yes, you both walked down the aisle. But how did your life change that very day? Did you become someone you weren’t before? Were your knees buckling? Were you nervous? How did you feel when the priest or minister said, “You may kiss your spouse?” There is nothing like a wedding day for a husband and wife. Let’s talk about it. On Monday, share your take on a particular memory that still stands out for you to this day.

How Many Languages Do You Speak?

In today’s world, there are more and more of us who speak multiple languages. Are you fluent in more than one language? If so, what are they? How have they served you in your life? Perhaps you’ve “dabbled” a little in learning this or that language. Do you pick up other languages easily? Maybe you struggled a lot to get through your foreign language requirement in high school or college? Share your take on this topic on Thursday’s show.

Be Kind to Yourself

It’s often said that God always forgives, others usually forgive, but we have a hard time forgiving ourselves. It’s true. We are often our own worst critics. When we go to Confession, both God and the Church offer us complete forgiveness. When we walk out of the confessional our sins are completely washed away in the blood of Jesus. Then we often go home, lay our head on the pillow at night and rehash our sins. “I was so bad.” “How could I have done that?” “God could never forgive me.” Well, you’ve been forgiven by God and the Church. Why can’t you forgive yourself? It’s a challenge for all of us. Remember, the Bible says to “love your neighbor as yourself.” A proper and healthy self-love includes showing mercy to ourselves. How are you doing at this? Share your take with Jerry and Debbie on Wednesday.

How I Long to Receive the Eucharist!

In the Church there are many people who are not able to receive the Eucharist for a variety of reasons. This is undoubtedly a painful reality for those who are barred from receiving due to marital complications or other issues. We want to hear from those who attend Mass but do not receive Communion because of what they perceive as barriers. It just may be that some people are abstaining when they don’t have to. For those who realize there is a legitimate reason for not receiving Communion, let’s have a conversation about it. Maybe a way can be found to clear the path to join in the full Eucharistic celebration of the Church. That’s Tuesday’s discussion with Jerry and Debbie.

The Fruits of Fatima

Friday is the official 100th anniversary of the final apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to the three children at Fatima. Her message to the world at that time still rings true today. Have we heeded it? Have we seen the world respond to her requests as she would have asked us to? We’ll be joined by one of the world’s leading Mariologists, Dr. Mark Miravalle, to discuss what have been the fruits of Mary’s apparitions at Fatima. You won’t want to miss it! Be sure to call with your comment or question.
