Friday is the official 100th anniversary of the final apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to the three children at Fatima. Her message to the world at that time still rings true today. Since the advent of television, so much has been presented as “family friendly.” It still sells today. But how much of what’s on TV is really family friendly? Sure, there may be some offerings that are not going to be offensive to the essential core values of the traditional family. But there are a lot of shows and series that are, quite frankly, dangerous for anyone to watch, let alone young people. One series that may grab the attention of families – since it’s a “family” that presents it – is The Lowe Files. Rob Lowe and his sons chase things like paranormal activities. Our guest Adam Blai will explain the dangers inherent in such a pursuit, we’ll talk about how to be discerning in what your family watches on TV and explore some other present-day dangers to the family. 

On Monday, call and share with Jerry and Debbie – and the world – how your love for your spouse has grown over the years or decades, in spite of him or her getting older, gaining weight, struggling with sin, turning out to not be “perfect,” losing his hair, having obnoxious relatives, etc. Should be a truly inspiring conversation. Almost everyone uses social media. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and countless other platforms. The ways in which people use those media are as varied as the people who use them. We post all kinds of things. But do we sometimes say things that are on our minds and hearts in ways that make it difficult for readers to get the true meaning of what we’re saying? Cryptic messages? Veiled criticism of others? Political or social statements that aren’t easy to decipher? What has been your experience of interacting with your family, friends and colleagues on social media? With all the contentiousness in politics today, it’s hard to imagine anyone with any integrity and a sense of wanting to safeguard their family running for political office. There may have been one marriage in the history of humanity where there were no arguments or disagreements (the Holy Family). In all others, there is bound to be strife. The beautiful side of that is that it provides opportunities for husband and wife to grow closer together through apologies and reconciliation.
