We all have our favorite Catholic books and resources we go to for spiritual help. Just visit EWTNrc.com, the Religious Catalogue, and you will be exposed to the very best of Catholic resources that will help you deepen your faith and love for God. On Monday, we will ask you to call in, email or text your recommended Catholic books so that others can benefit from what you’ve learned. We want to thank Gigi from New Jersey for suggesting that we do a show dedicated to building our Catholic library. Please be thinking about the book that most impacted your spiritual life and share it on Monday. 1-833-288-3986.

Dear Debbie (and Jerry),
What a great show idea Gigi from New Jersy had! I’ve been working on a list of what would be good Catholic reading so this is really good timing for me, and I’m sure others as well.
I’m currently reading that book Jerry recommended, “How to Profit from your Faults”, by Joseph Tissot.
Next up in my queue to read is, “The Practice of the Presence of God”, by Brother Lawrence. I have not actually read this book but in the 3 years our Priest has been at our Church he has mentioned this book as being a good one to read in 2 different Homilies, and I’ve never heard him mention any other book other than this one. So if my Priest recommends it it’s probably a good book to read. I bought it and will read it after the Faults book.
Next up is a book on “Why We are Catholic”, by Trent Horn. I love apologetics, even when I was a Protestant, and now I need to especially read and study up on Catholic apologetics, as I have a real need for that when I run in to Church friends from the past, who sometimes think it’s their duty to confront me about what Catholics believe. Mostly though, they just think I’ve “gone off the deep end” for becoming Catholic. I know what I believe but I now need to be able to clearly explain it to others. This book looked like it would be a good book to read and it was the GRN Share-A-Thon book that you got for making a pledge at a certain level so I bet it’s good. Someone’s giving me a copy of it so I’ll have that one to read after the 1st two.
I look forward to hearing what others will say on your show about what’s good to read. Also, please be sure to tell the listeners what several of your and Jerry’s favorite books are to read so I can add them to my list of books to read and that will help me to grow.
I always try to get those Priest Seal of Approval books (the ones with the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur) inside the front cover. They tell RCIA people to do that to protect them.
However, not all the good, safe to read Catholic books, have that and some of them are okay too and probably great to read as well. I have to be really careful being a new Catholic that I don’t read something with error in it.
Looking forward to the show, as always!
Thanks so much!
Blessings,
Toni in Texas
