What Does Your Soul Like to “Eat?”

As Christians, we are exhorted to read and pray over the Sacred Scriptures. That is one of the most fruitful and important things we can do to grow spiritually. But God speaks to us in many other ways. One of those ways is when we read books and other writings by the saints and other holy men and women. Do you have any favorites that have helped you along your path to heaven? If so, share them with the world on Thursday’s show. The spiritual reading that has benefited you could well become the “food” for the souls of many other people looking to grow closer to God.

  1. Thank you so much for what both of you bring to this radio show. Every night when I crawl in to bed and put my earbuds in, I am excited to hear what you spoke about earlier in the day.
I absolutely LOVE your show and how open and honest you both are!
As for this actual segment, I am in LOVE with any book I can get my hands on about Mother Teresa, St. Teresa of Calcutta. She is soooo inspiring to me. When I feel discouraged because I am just one tiny little person in this big old messed up world and wonder if I can really do anything to “fix” our world, I just look to her, as she was only one person and look what she accomplished!
I am sure you sacrifice a lot to keep this radio show going, and I just want you to know how much I appreciate your dedication and devotion. I hope and pray God will give you what you need to keep on providing it for folks like me, tuning in from little old Iowa.
    God Bless you both!

    • Cynthia,

You’re very kind. Thank you for your inspiration and encouragement. We’re so happy that you get a lot out of the show. Please do pray for us, as we do for you and all of our listeners every day.

      God bless you!

  2. Debbie, and Jerry,
What a great show, and I just caught the last 15 minutes of it! I hope you do it again. Maybe even quarterly?

A suggestion for families. We homeschooled our kids and while the experience was far from perfect I would do it again for the great literature we were introduced to. Over the years we found great books to build character and Catholic values in our kids, great books for them as teens, great books to read together as a family. Even if your not interested in homeschooling, a lot of these resources can be found at Catholic homeschool websites. A couple suggestions:

Nourish the souls of your family with good books!

Thanks again and God Bless! Theresa
