Wednesday is the Feast of Our Lady Of Guadalupe. Our Blessed Mother is so special that each of us develops a unique understanding and relationship with her. Describe for us your personal journey with Mary, and how it has grown over the years. Maybe you are not sure where to place her in your spiritual life. Share that as well, and let’s see if we can learn about our Blessed Mother together.

This is a much better topic than yesterday’s, something more appropriate for EWTN. I think I am actually interested in this topic. I have not been close with Mary most of my life. Theresa Tomeo had a facebook post quoting Pope St John Paul II as saying that we should keep our gaze on Mary. I replied to her that Heb 12:2 says that we should keep our eyes on JESUS. That’s a conflict. I have more often focused on Jesus than on Mary. That said, Dr Brant Petre has a very good book on “Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary.” Odd title, but he’s referring to the Old Testament typology of Mary. I felt a lot better after reading his book. He makes a lot of very good scriptural points defending the Catholic beliefs about Mary.

I love Mother Mary! By the process of through God, with God, and in God, her life makes the love of God relatable to me. During difficult and trying times, especially ones I perceive as unjust, studying and imitating her acceptance of God’s will through the loss of Jesus as shared in “Mary’s Way of the Cross” by Richard Furey has truly strengthened me to carry heavier crosses than I could have ever done on my own.
Thank you the team of Jerry and Debbie for your wonderful ministry, and thanks be to God!
