Take 2 with Jerry & Debbie

Do You Know a Moral Relativist?

Simple math tells us that there are realities outside of ourselves (for example, 2 + 2 = 4) that impose themselves upon us. It’s not for us to determine whether they’re right or wrong. Rather, if we’re honest, we must conform our thinking and behavior to those realities. Yet, all around us – perhaps in our families or circle of friends – are those who see things differently, who say things like, “Well, that may be true for you. But it’s not true for me.” On Thursday, Jerry and Debbie will ask listeners how they engage in dialogue with those who embrace a relativist position. The show airs at Noon ET, with a reply at Midnight ET.

I called in on this Take 2 and Debbie offered her prayers for difficulties with family and friends about my growing faith. I believe those prayers were answered. I had a powerful experience of peace amid sorrow today when receiving alot of anger from a friend over my mentioning the Bible. I realized I could defend my words with love and gentleness, when in the past I would fall apart in the face of direct anger (‘moral relativiist wants to become a Catholic?’ – that was me). Immediately after the conversation, Debbie’s words were brought back to my mind, and so thank you to both of you and all who keep your program running. It is working.
