Friday is prayer intention day on Take 2 With Jerry and Debbie. We’ll take your important intentions by phone, text, social media, e-mail, or posted right here. All of them get prayed for at the end of the show, even if they’re not presented on the air. We look forward to hearing from you!
We’ve decided to do a part two of our topic from Wednesday. There were a lot of great calls and takes, and we look forward to more of them on Thursday.
We’ve done a few shows on the Coronavirus pandemic, but it’s been a while since the last one. So, on Wednesday, Jerry and Debbie want your calls to describe how you’re doing overall:
Are you able to work, either at home or in the workplace?
Do you wear a mask in public?
What does the “lockdown” mean for you?
How are you remaining physically and emotional fit?
Have you or someone you know contracted the virus?
What do you think of the media coverage of the pandemic?
How are you discussing this with your children?
These are just a few of the thoughts that may come to mind when you listen to the show. It should be busy on the phones, so be sure you call early to get on the air!
Once again we had to leave full phone lines when we signed off on Monday. So, to give those wonderful people – and others – a chance to weigh in on the cost of dying topic, we’re going to present part two on Tuesday.
We often hear so much about “the cost of living.” Of course, that has to do with where we live, how we live, etc. But one thing is certain: We are all going to die. While some people plan ahead for that – making out their wills, buying their cemetery plots, and so forth – many others are caught off guard. Death can come at any time. It doesn’t have to be when we’re 85 years old and have been retired for twenty years. On Monday’s show, Jerry and Debbie will welcome your takes on “the cost of dying.” In other words:
Have you adequately planned ahead for your death?
Did you buy a cemetery plot in advance?
Have you chosen whether you’d like to be buried or cremated?
Has your funeral Mass been laid out?
Will your loved ones have to make final decisions on your behalf?
These questions, and many others, are very important in determining how smoothly things will go once we pass. The costs of a plot of land, a casket, a headstone, and more, can reach tens of thousands of dollars. Let’s talk about this and see if we can shed some light on the subject.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been four years Friday since the passing of EWTN Foundress Mother Angelica. Jerry and Debbie moved their monthly Unscripted show to Thursday, and on Friday they invite you to call and share how watching or listening to Mother Angelica helped or maybe even changed your life. It’s going to be a blessed conversation, and we hope you will tune in and call in!
Normally, Jerry and Debbie hold their monthly Unscripted show on the final Friday of each month. This month, however, is different. Friday is the anniversary of the death of EWTN’S foundress, Mother Angelica. So, we’re going to devote that show to honoring her memory. Which means we have moved Unscripted up one day to Thursday. Please join us and bring up whatever topic you would like!
Many people feel drawn to forge a career in the same field or industry as one or both of their parents. Do you fit into this category? If so, share with us why you made that choice on Wednesday’s show. Was it because you grew up around someone in that field? Were you pressured to follow in the footsteps of a parent? Or did your parents encourage you to go into whatever career you thought was the best fit? Are there any fields where this happens more than others, like attorneys, teachers, doctors and nurses, etc.? Let’s explore this on Wednesday.
Faith is a gift. Why it’s not received and lived by all people is a deep mystery. “There but for the grace of God go I” is a phrase we’ve all likely heard many times during our lives. When we really, really think about what we’ve been given, and that it’s possible that countless other people don’t have faith, it’s mind boggling. Living out our faith in total dependance on God is the path to heaven. That’s how serious this matter is. On Tuesday, join Jerry and Debbie and share how very grateful you are for the gift of your faith.
It seems the information about the COVID-19 virus changes hour by hour. It’s impacting the globe like few situations throughout history have. While we pray and beseech the Lord to guide those who are leading the charge to develop effective vaccines and treatments, everyday life has to go on. And, sadly, for many that means their employment situation has been impacted – if not wiped out – by the reactions to the pandemic. Have you lost your job recently in its aftermath? Perhaps your employment has been scaled back? If you fall into any such categories, call Jerry and Debbie on Monday and let’s talk about it. If nothing else, it can spark worldwide prayer for your present circumstances. Talk to you on Monday!
