Why Can’t We Just Be Kind?

Kindness

Just turn on the TV and it becomes crystal clear just what is missing, kindness.  It seems that we have just stopped being kind to one another.  Why is that?  Why can’t we extend a little kindness to others. From politicians to next door neighbors and even in our families, kindness seems to be lacking.  When we stop being kind to one another then the next step in sin is to destroy each other.  Satan wants us to be unkind this way we can be even more destructive in the long run.  As Catholic Christians, we are called to model kindness.  Do we? Let’s talk about it on Monday.

No, Thank You

6-8-2018-NO.jpg

We have all been trained to put others first, to nurture, to help, to serve.  These are good things but they can also lead to negative feelings if the situation gets out of balance.  Saying “no” can be necessary and beneficial at times, even for our spiritual life.  But many of us aim to please, we don’t want to disappoint.  So we say “yes” way too many times, only to be feeling overwhelmed, angry, guilty, frustrated and resentful.  Then, when it all seems like too much, we may abandon our commitments and accept the title of “flaking out.” A vicious cycle that can be broken by establishing practical habits to keep everything in check.  If this topic resonates with you, then please call in and share your experience and/or advice. 1-833-288-3986.

Sorry, I am running late again

6-4-2018-running_late-waiting

Do you find yourself constantly apologizing and making excuses as to why you are late for appointments or meetings?  Is this a chronic problem for you?  Many of us struggle with running late especially in today’s world when we try and do more than we can manage.  But did you know that when we are late, it can be a sign of selfishness on our part and a lack of respect for others and their time.  We as Catholic Christians are called to be our word and that would also relate to being on time.  So how good are you on honoring your commitments and showing up on time?  Let’s have a real conversation about this and see if we can learn something that can help us in our daily lives.  Call us with your take on this, 1-833-288-3986.

My mom always said…

5-31 -18--mom-wisdom.jpg

We are still in the month of May so we are honoring the wisdom of mothers and grandmothers.  In June, we will honor the dads. For Thursday’s show, please share with us what words of wisdom or advice your mother or grandmother imparted to you.  Maybe you didn’t realize how profound their statements were until you lived long enough to experience it for yourself.  That is what happened with Debbie and her mom’s advice.  Debbie had to live it and then she realized where she first heard it, from dear ole mom. Our mothers and grandmothers have lived long lives with all the ups and downs this world had to offer.  It surely would be to our advantage if we tap into their wisdom and honor them for taking the time to care about us.  Call in early to the show to be sure to get on the air.  1-833-288-3986.

Stuffed Emotions

5-21-18 - emotions (1).jpg

Many times in relationships, we stuff our emotions for fear of being rejected or causing a problem.  This can occur in our homes, at work, at church, in our schools and in our communities.  This is a real problem because folks are not being honest with themselves and others.  We are called to speak the truth with clarity and charity.  Plus, there can be serious physical consequences with stuffing emotions.  It has been stated that stuffed emotions can manifest in disease.  Let’s talk about how we can process through our emotions without suppressing them.  Share your experience with us by calling, 1-833-288-3986.

I want to belong!

5-16-18 belonging.jpg

Human beings have a want and a need to belong, to be accepted and loved.  In this day and age, with the misuse of social media, it is very easy to alienate others, reject them and even annihilate them using the internet.  Very sad state of affairs we are in, because people can feel isolated and that is the last thing people need in their lives.  We know by the increasing rate of teen suicides that this problem is real and it is growing.  Help us to learn on this show by calling in and sharing your experience of this basic human need to be accepted. 1-833-288-3986.

We are called to be true to ourselves and to others.  Being authentic in today’s world can be challenging but it is necessary if we are going to change the culture from godlessness to godliness…Many times we try to fit in and we don’t want to ruffle feathers, so being several versions of ourselves tends to be quite easy.  Being Christian is not always easy, in fact, it can be rather hard at times.  Working towards authenticity is key for our spiritual development.  Let’s talk about getting real in life. Give Me Some Credit!

5-3-18-credit.jpg

In life, it’s virtually impossible to function without using other people’s money. In other words, your bank’s money, your credit card’s money, etc. Almost no one could buy a house without credit. Credit cards are a fixture for most of us. In many ways, this is a very beneficial reality. But it can also lead to a lot of problems. Credit used judiciously can make life much more manageable. But Proverbs 22:7 points out some of the dangers, noting that the rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender. What is your take on credit and living with some amount of debt? Some people get in deep, dig their way out, then have a party when they take the scissors to their credit cards forever. Share your take on this crucial part of our everyday lives. It’s something that potentially carries significant spiritual ramifications.  1-833-288-3986 is the number to be on the show.
