The world has been through so much lately. So has the Church. Parish closings. Programs shut down. Trying to welcome people back to Church. As of now, how would you rate your parish life – thriving, or surviving? Let’s talk about that on Tuesday.

I don’t think anyone reads these comments but you don’t allow them on your Youtube videos.
You confuse two issues. “Falling asleep in the pew” and criticizing the “depth” of sermons seems like whining to me. Priests have a hard life, and they deserve our support, unconditionally.
Now “parish community” is a totally different matter. I have lived in the East Valley of the Phoenix area for over 30 years and the area parishes just don’t care to be sociable. Cliques like Mothers or Seniors may meet during the week, but there have never ever been any social events. Most of these parishes are new in the last 50 years, and it seems to me that they simply “forgot” to set up any social organizations, and thus there is no “community”.
I don’t think you get that “catechesis” only appeals to a small handful of people. A weekend carnival or a picnic appeals to _everyone_ and might even draw people back.
