Throughout the Church’s history, there have been countless men and women who have laid down their lives for the sake of Jesus and His Church. This, of course, goes all the way back to the earliest days of Christianity. Wednesday (July 8) is the day the Church celebrates the memory and glorious martyrdom of seven sisters of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, who, according to http://www.catholicsaints.info were all beheaded on July 9, in one of the periodic crackdowns against foreign missionaries in China. The sisters were sent to the Shanxi diocese to serve the poor in hospitals, and care for the unwanted or others who were destitute in orphanages. They were
