Take 2 with Jerry & Debbie

The Effects of the Opioid Epidemic: Part II

Thursday, on part two of Wednesdays topic, Jerry and Debbie will welcome your personal experiences of the devastating opioid problem facing our country, as well as many other countries around the world. What very often starts out as simply a matter of someone taking medications for an injury or an illness, sadly, turns into an addiction that can wreak havoc on the abuser, as well as his or her family and friends. Tragically, many lose their lives every year as a result of this disaster. Rather than delving deeply into facts and statistics about the epidemic, we want to hear if you have been personally impacted by it. This is sure to be a poignant and impactful conversation.

  1. Dear Jerry & Debbie,

Good show yesterday! I did not realize that the opioid situation was as serious as it is. I will be praying for you today especially with such a serious topic that needs to be addressed. What you both say with help others.

    • Thank you, Toni. You’re so very kind. Let’s pray for each other!

      • Will do! Boy, that was a tough part II show yesterday on Opioids. So much pain and grief but yet I could sense healing too in many of the caller’s stories. I avoid taking any painkillers from dental or other so as not to take a chance I could become addicted, as so often happens to others.

I am always amazed at how well you and Debbie coordinate with the caller in letting them say what they want to say and yet adjusting for the time you have left of the show time and in trying to get all the callers waiting to be heard on the air. Debbie and you are certainly great masters of this and show great finesse in doing it!

Blessings and prayers for you both!

On another topic, I volunteered this week to be a volunteer on the Guadalupe Radio Network Summer Share-a-thon! on June 14th. I’ll be talking callers pledges I think. Although I am considered a highly successful fundraiser and event planner I have never done this type of work before.

Jerry-Didn’t you do something related to radio fundraising in the past? Are there any resources you could refer me to so that I can do a really good job with this for the radio station. God has blessed me with what I call “The Golden Touch” and I really want to knock it out of the park in this fundraising effort. I wouldn’t be a Catholic today unless it was for God and EWTN Radio so it’s very, very high on my list of things I believe in supporting! Thank you for any information you can impart to me on radio fundraising!

I’m ordering that book this weekend on “Faults” that you mentioned in a recent show. It sounded really good from what you described.

        Have a good show today!

        All the best!
