The days are long gone when television ads had to meet certain standards of decency before they could be approved for airing. Oh, sure, there are still a number of do’s and don’ts that advertisers have to follow. But many of those are more for politically correct reasons, rather than for the sake of preserving the innocence of viewers. Modern technology has made it possible to steer clear of objectionable commercial content in a variety of ways, including changing the channel, muting the TV, taping shows and fast forwarding through the ads, and so on.
