Most Catholics will receive the great gift of Confirmation at some point during their lives. It’s an important part of developing and growing into the mature Christian you’re called to be. At Confirmation, we select a saint whose name we take for our own. Which saint did you choose, and how did you go about making that decision? That’s our topic for discussion on Tuesday.
The sin of pride goes all the way back to the creation of man and woman. The angels were tested as well, and those who would not serve God based that unfortunate decision on pride. There is a healthy form of pride, like being “proud” to be a Catholic. That is quite different from the dangerous type of pride that leads people to do all sorts of horrible things. Is there a rise in pridefulness in our world today? Share your thoughts and insights on Thursday’s broadcast.
Lulu sent in St. Teresa of Calcutta’s ways of staying humble:
Speak as little as possible about yourself.
Keep busy with your own affairs and not those of others.
Avoid curiosity (though I don’t think that she is referring to learning, here)
Do not interfere in the affairs of others.
Accept small irritations with good humor.
Do not dwell on the faults of others.
Accept censures even if unmerited.
Give in to the will of others.
Accept insults and injuries.
Accept contempt, being forgotten and disregarded.
Be courteous and delicate even when provoked by someone.
It’s the number one prayer intention that we receive on the program – our loved ones who have left or stopped practicing the Catholic faith. It breaks your heart, and you can begin to worry about their eternal destiny. But, God is in control, and He knows just what it will take to bring our loved ones back to the fold. On Tuesday, we’re going to talk about this, and try to unpack the things we can do, and what God can – and will – do.
Monday’s show is always one of our most popular monthly offerings. If you have an urgent prayer intention that you would like the Take 2 Family to join you in praying for, be sure to call and let us know what it is. You can also share them with us on Facebook, Twitter and email.
Celebrities, personalities, and other high-profile individuals have a tremendous platform for promoting good or evil. This has perhaps never been more the case than it is in today’s’ high-tech, social media-driven world. As you glance around at the people who catch your attention, are they utilizing their God-given platform for the promotion of things that will build up individuals and society, or are they championing causes that tear us down. That’s the topic of our conversation again on Wednesday, which will be part two of this lively discussion.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been nineteen years since the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and other locations. We all remember how packed our churches were in the days and weeks following the tragedy. But, soon, things seemed to return to “normal.” Take 2 With Jerry and Debbie is committed to remembering this horrific period in our nation’s history. On Friday – the anniversary of the attack – we will once again invite your memories and recollections of where you were, what you thought and felt, how it has stayed with you all these years. Be sure and join us for what promises to be another impactful look back at 9/11.
We received so many calls, and so much feedback, from Thursday’s show, that we’re presenting a part two on Friday. It promises to be another impactful conversation about the importance of fathers in the lives of their families. Do join us, and please call with your personal experiences.
Tuesday is one of our monthly opportunities for you to call and share your prayer intentions with the world. We look forward to hearing from you, and sharing your prayer burdens.
Addiction can damage lives and ruin families. It often costs people their very lives. Why are addictions so powerful? Why are they often so difficult to overcome? If you or someone one you love struggles with an addiction, let’s talk Wednesday about how we can all help. There are few – if any – people whose lives have not been touched by addiction in some way. We’re going to look at ways to help, and rays of hope. Please join us, and make a difference in other people’s lives.
