You might be tempted to wonder, “Who in the world could dislike – even hate – the Catholic Church, especially because of all the good it has done for humanity over the centuries?” Well, Holy Mother Church has had her enemies since day one. And a very quick look around today reveals that those who would love to bring her down are truly great in number and fervor. It’s not easy knowing where to begin a discussion of today’s “greatest threats” to the Church. But we’ll give it a shot – with you leading the way with your always-great insights – on Wednesday.

We’ve all lost family members, friends and other loved ones. We go to great lengths to pray for them and keep their memories alive. Does that commitment sometimes wane a little over time? Hopefully not. In any case, on Monday, All Souls day, join Jerry and Debbie for a discussion of how we continually remember those we have lost.

Most of us love the saints, and try to pattern our lives after theirs. We are inspired by the fact that they have “run the race” so as to win. They share in the eternal beatitude of God, and are always there to help us with their intercession. It can be easy to place the saints on a pedestal, thinking that they were somehow given special graces to attain holiness and sainthood that we do not receive. But the truth is we – the canonized saints and us – all share a similar path to heaven, and that is through engaging in the battle of earthly life so as to overcome our inclination to sin and self-love, and love God with all of our heart, mind and strength. On Thursday, call and let’s talk about a saint who inspires you, and the struggles he or she had in order to be given the title “St.” before their name.

Some say age is just a number. And, in a sense it is. How old do you “feel?” Younger than you are? Older than you are? We often hear people say things like, “Fifty-five is the new forty.” There are likely a lot of people who say just the opposite, that they feel inside much older than they really are. So, why have a conversation about this? In order to learn to be grateful to God for every day of our lives. Be sure to tune in and call in with your take on Wednesday’s show.

Change is inevitable. It’s one thing, among many, that we can be certain of. Some changes are healthy and productive. Others, not so much. For anyone who has lived for any part or all of the last several decades, the tidal wave of changes that have taken place can be mind-boggling. Who would have thought a generation or two ago – let alone several months ago – that we would see God’s world in such incredible chaos and change. Do you ever reflect on this? How does it make you feel knowing that the world you grew up in is long gone, and will likely never come back? During times of crisis, it’s very understandable to see more and more people express some degree of faith in God. One of the most stark reminders of this was in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 attacks in 2001. Has it been your experience this year that faith has played an increasingly prominent role in the lives of those you know and love? Have you been a listening ear for those who know you take your faith seriously? Perhaps you have sought out opportunities to share the importance of following Jesus, especially when we’re facing this type of health scare. It may have even been your fellow Catholics whom you have been able to reassure, given the many challenges we have faced to attend Mass and receive the sacraments. On Monday, let’s talk about this. We’re all sure to come away with some fresh ideas for evangelizing those who are searching for truth and meaning in today’s world.

It’s bound to happen at least once in every person’s life. You see what looks like an amazing opportunity just up the road. You research it, you prepare for it, and are all set to pounce on it. But it slips through your grasp at the last minute. Does that sound familiar to you? You may have even prayed about taking advantage of the opportunity, sensing the heaven-sent light for you to move was green. When all was said and done, did you feel like you did miss that golden opportunity, or, looking back, was it actually for the better that it didn’t materialize? That’s our topic on Thursday, and we need you to weigh in on it.
