What’s This Thing Called “Social Justice?”

The Catholic Church has always led the way in promoting justice for all human beings. Without justice, there can be no peace. Where there is injustice, there will always – at least eventually – be unrest and chaos. But what does the body of the Church’s social justice doctrine consist of? The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops list on their website seven key themes:

  • Life and Dignity of the Human Person
  • Call to Family, Community and Participation
  • Human Rights and Responsibilities
  • An Option for the Poor and Vulnerable
  • The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers
  • Human Solidarity
  • Care for God’s Creation

Join Jerry and Debbie on Tuesday for a look at these important areas of human life and social justice.

How Safe Do You Feel in Today’s World?

safe.jpg

Lots of dangers swirling in today’s world. Still, in the U.S., we generally take our safety for granted. But a lot of neighborhoods are wracked with crime. Many people feel that putting up fences, alarming their homes and hiring security services will keep them safe.  Years ago neighbors would keep their front doors unlocked.  Now people are installing front security doors and gates as an added level of protection.  Late night strolls in the neighborhood used to be a relaxing time.  Now people won’t leave their home after dark.  The question is, do you feel safe in this world today?  Call in and share at 1-800-585-9396.

How do you start your day?

wake-up

As Catholic Christians we should be filled with a sense of joy and hope every day.  If we are believing and living our faith, then each day becomes a gift from God; one more opportunity to grow in holiness.  Yet, so many of us wake up in the morning with a sense of dread, saying to ourselves, oh no just another day.  One can imagine that God is saddened by this outlook on life.  What robbed us of that joy and hope?  How can we put that skip in our step again and jump out of bed praising God for another day.  Join us on Take 2 with Jerry and Debbie by calling in at: 1-800-585-9396.

Is Love a Feeling or a Choice?

We have heard it said that love is a choice.  When we consciously choose to love another then we experience feelings of the heart.  We can encounter feelings of joy, feelings of pain, feelings of anger.  Deciding to lead with a sense of love, can be one of the greatest spiritual lessons of life.  Love is a complicated word and in order to try and begin to understand this concept, we must first look at who is love- God!  Join us in this fascinating discussion by calling 1-800-585-9396.

No Regrets!

regrets-t2.jpg

My favorite statement is, “no regrets.”  Jerry has heard me say this over and over again.  Why do I feel so adamant about that remark?  For years, I have encountered people who have been paralyzed in their life journey due to regrets that they just can’t seem to let go of.  Regrets are baggage that weigh down the soul and put a huge barrier between the person and God.  When we hold onto regrets, an enormous sense of unworthiness tends to overshadow the person and the graces available from God are not fully received.  Regrets are satan’s attempts of trapping us in cement.  Let’s talk about ways we can move forward past all the regrets and experience God’s immense love for us.  Share your experience by calling, 1-800-585-9396.

The Third Person of the Trinity

HS-t2.jpg

Join us at Take 2 with Jerry and Debbie as we learn more about the Holy Spirit.  Often times, people really can’t explain or even understand the role of the third person of the Trinity.  Many tend to reference the Holy Spirit without truly grasping the power of the Spirit.  Today’s show will be a fundamental discussion about the Holy Spirit and a chance for us to grow closer to the third person of the Trinity.  This is a show you don’t want to miss. Our call in number is: 1-800-585-9396.

Have we taken Jesus humor too far?

buddy-jesus

We know that Jesus was all human and all divine.  With human qualities comes a sense of humor.  But have we taken this too far?  Is it acceptable for us as Catholic Christians to allow Jesus to be the brunt of jokes?   Comedy clubs have made a fortune at the expense of our Lord and Savior.  Whether it is Jesus jokes, or taking our Lord’s name in vain, comedy has plummeted into making a mockery of our God.  The question is, should we ignore what happens and chalk it up as innocent fun, or should we boycott the use of Jesus as a form of entertainment? Let’s talk about this.  Call in at 1-800-585-9396.

Waking Up With Gratitude

waking_gratitude (1).jpg

Have you ever woken up, stubbed your toe, spilled your coffee, saw on stain on your shirt, and realized this is not going to be a good day?  This happens to many of us and it seems that when we begin our day with a state of gloom, things snowball, and get even worse.  Yet, when we start our morning with a sense of gratitude, life tends to be brighter.  Trivial annoyances can still occur; but when we have an “attitude of gratitude” minor disturbances manage to glide right by almost unnoticed.  Let’s discuss this on Take 2 with Jerry and Debbie.  Share how you incorporate gratitude into your daily life.  Call in at: 1-800-585-9396.

Do Not Be Anxious

With all the insecurity in the world today, there is widespread anxiety. Not just the garden variety type where people fret a little over the future. So many people today are almost paralyzed and unable to function in society due to deeply-rooted anxiety. They’re on medications that can help in some instances. Still, how do those burdened with serious anxiety learn to trust in the Lord, and take Jesus’ words seriously: “Do not be anxious about anything?” Gary Zimak, author and speaker will join us today for the entire show.  Gary will share his experience with anxiety and the steps we can take today to overcome some of the debilitating effects of an anxious life.  Call in and share your take on this very important topic. 1-800-585-9396

Waiting on the Lord

prayer-waiting

There are many reasons why we have to sometimes wait – even a very long time – before we sense an answer from God to one of our prayers. In this age of instant gratification, that can be very difficult. It’s often said that God answers every prayer. It’s either, “Yes,” “No,” or “Not now.” As Tom Petty once sang, “The waiting is the hardest part.” How easy is it for you to wait on the Lord? The Bible speaks often of those who wait on the Lord being rewarded.  Share with us your experience by calling 1-800-585-9396.
