Living Life with a Purpose

7-12-17_Living with a purpose_Take 2

We all want to be productive. To accomplish the things we think we need to day by day. We want and need a purpose as well. Maybe we are doing a lot of tasks but really nothing for our spiritual growth. Is it possible to get our work done and still feed our spiritual health, emotional health, intellectual self, etc?  Living with Purpose is a comprehensive approach to life, whereby we are being productive in the world but also true to ourselves and our God-given purpose.  This can be a life changing show if you participate by calling, 1-800-585-9396.

To put to death or not

7-7-17_death penalty

Which side are you on?  What if your core beliefs conflict with paragraph 2267 in the Catechism of the Catholic Church?  Can you still be for the death penalty and a “good” Catholic? What if a friend or family member was the victim of a heinous crime, would your view of capital punishment change when it becomes personal?  Many people struggle with this issue, so it is worthy of discussion.  Please call in and share your “take” on this subject and maybe change a heart at the same time.  1-800-585-9396.

Supernatural Gifts From God

6_30_17-saint-gift (1)

The stigmata, bilocation, reading hearts, prophecy, levitation, sweet fragrance and incorruptibility are just some of the gifts God has given holy men and women during their lifetime.  Padre Pio is one saint that manifested many spiritual gifts bestowed by God.  Not all of the gifts are pleasurable, some actually are physically painful. So what does this tell us about the road to sainthood?  Are these gifts an indication of the closeness of God?  What could be the purpose of these gifts?  Are these mystical realities, that defy science and nature, a sign from God that He desires a deep relationship with us? Let’s unlock the keys to this supernatural phenomena by discussing it on Friday’s Take 2 with Jerry and Debbie.  1-800-585-9396

Taking God with You on Vacation

6_29_17-vacation_faith (1).jpg

So many times we plan and take a vacation with little thought about going to church, praying or focusing on God.  Somehow we think that a vacation means time away from God.  This is a very misguided thought process with potentially a missed opportunity for profound spiritual growth.  God is the refresher of our souls.  He is the giver of all gifts and vacations can be considered a gift.  Why not recharge our batteries, rest and relax all while growing in faith and receiving the blessings of God for taking Him on vacation.  Give us your take on this by calling, 1-800-585-9396.

Unscripted for June

Friday’s show is our Unscripted for June. Unscripted is just that, an informal show with no set topic just what is on your heart.  So please ask us anything, make suggestions or comment on past shows.  This is a great time for us to get to know one another a little bit better and also to keep the conversation going.  We want Take 2 to be a part of your life, so your participation is key to the success of this mission.  Call in 1-800-585-9396.

We promised to post some resources for Julie, who wishes to mentor a fellow teacher who has little or no faith and is concerned because people have told her she is going to hell because she is not baptized. Here are a few that we recommend:

Why Be Catholic? by Patrick Madrid – https://store.patrickmadrid.com/why-be-catholic/

Rediscover Jesus by Matthew Kelly – http://dynamiccatholic.com/rediscoverjesus/

Rhythm of Life: Living Every Day With Passion and Purpose by Matthew Kelly – https://cart.dynamiccatholic.com/Rhythm-of-life-Matthew-Kelly-p/rol-hc.htm

We also mentioned to Peter the “spiritual communion” prayer for those who desire to receive Jesus in the Eucharist but are unable for various reasons. This is taken from the EWTN website:

An Act of
Spiritual
Communion

My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.  I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.  Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

Do You Dress for (Spiritual) Success?

5-25-17-armor_God

It has been said time and time again, to dress for success in the corporate world.  But as Catholic Christians we are called to dress for spiritual success.  What do we mean by that?  To put on the armor of God as St. Paul talks about it in Ephesians. We must be ready spiritually to fight off every attempt satan makes on us.  We must guard ourselves and be guided by the Spirit to overcome all the challenges that takes our focus off of God and onto worldly desires.  So here is the question, are you dressing for spiritual success or worldly success? Share your wisdom by calling, 1-800-585-9396.

It’s Hard to Say “I’m Sorry”

5_23-17-sorry.jpg

One has to be courageous to extend a person to person heartfelt apology.  So many times we choose the “chicken exit” approach by sending a text, a quick note or email just so that we don’t have to endure the humbling experience of admitting that we were wrong in a specific instance.  Share with us your “take” of sending and/or receiving apologies.  Remember, when we encounter those difficult experiences, it is a huge opportunity for growth especially in virtue.  Are you a courageous apologizer or do you avoid the difficult and take the easy road?  We have all been there, so please share by calling, 1-800-585-9396.

Body Language Speaks Volumes

5_22_17-actions (1).jpg

Body Language is that non verbal communication that can reveal a lot about a person’s nature and disposition.  For instance, when a person has their arms crossed in front of them, this usually is an indication that the person is closed off, unwilling to be open for a discussion, or possibly even in defensive mode.  Another example is the gesture of outstretched hands signifying a person’s openness for assistance with a spirit of humility.  As Catholic Christians we are to be Christ in the world which means our body language can speak volumes to seekers of the Faith.  Let’s talk about this and more on Monday’s Take 2 with Jerry and Debbie.  Call in at 1-800-585-9396.
