In 2004, Hollywood put out a film about ‘mean girls’ in high school. But adult mean girls are found just about everywhere in society. It simply does not end with high school drama. Adult bullying is a real problem and when it happens in a family situation it is even more destructive. This topic was brought to us by a Take 2 family member. They have experienced adult bullying from in-laws for well over 3 decades. The ‘mean girls’ term seems juvenile and relatively harmless but adults that behave like this can shatter the spirit of others. The season of Lent officially begins tomorrow with Ash Wednesday. It is a day of fasting and abstinence. Lent can and should be a time to refocus, repent, and renew our spiritual life. On Thursday, we’ll discuss the all-too-prevalent phenomenon of couples trying – but not succeeding – to bear children. This can create unspeakable heartache for husbands and wives, who so desperately desire to raise their own children. Many will eventually turn to adoption, while others may go their entire married lives without having any children at all. Of course, the horrible tragedy is the social and cultural juxtaposition of these loving individuals with those who choose to abort the greatest gift they will ever be given.
