The one where the priest said something about hell and, I don’t remember exactly how I reacted, but let’s just say he definitely had my attention, and it might have been a reaction of conviction, and I noticed a man sitting closer to the front’s body tense up, too, and then it seemed that the reason he had brought up hell was that he didn’t believe people went there, and that was that, especially since this was the only church I really could go to around that time…and he was known to occasionally give a sermon implying if not explicitly stating that no one goes to hell. Honestly, of the sermons I have heard, this is one of the very few I remember any details about.

There was probably disappointment, at the time, having thought I was about to get the “real stuff”, even if it made me nervous, although it’s too long ago for me to remember exactly how I reacted when I found out he wasn’t actually going to warn us about hell.

    Hi Jerry and Debbie,

There is one homily that has stood with me for years. At 8 years. The priest was talking and was referring to the statement Be still and know that I am God . With each spoken sentence of his homily he would end by by removing one word from the end of the statement be still and know that I am God. Hello started with Be still and know that I am. Then Be still and know. Then be still. Ending with just be. It was beautiful and powerful. This was given by Fr. Patrick Mullan from the Archdiocese of Washington DC.
